Services Insufficient pretreatment, ineffective antiscalants, faulty instrumentation, and defective components can all be causes of degrading membrane chemicals system performance. Our methodical approach combines troubleshooting and sophisticated analytical techniques to identify the root cause and restore optimal performance. Proton® Antiscalant Software Our Proton® Aqueous Membrane Chemistry Calculator is the world’s most powerful antiscalant projection software. Proton can be used to design a new RO/NF system, performs a complete suite of hydraulics calculations, and accounts for tail element concentration polarization in its scaling calculations. The software accounts for ion activity and for over 130 ion complexes making it the most accurate projection software in the industry. It is the only membrane software to calculate the saturation and precipitation potentials for over 50 scales at the entire operating pH range of 1 – 11. Proton also projects water quality, and reliably predicts rejection of contaminants such as boron, arsenic and bromide. Learn More Membrane Cleaning Studies AWC can perform cleaning studies to identify the best cleaning protocol and most effective cleaning chemicals for a particular fouling situation. Learn More Off-site Membrane Cleaning For industrial facilities that do not have clean-in-place (CIP) systems, AWC can perform multiple membrane element cleanings in our facility to ensure stringent cleaning procedures and to optimize results. 1/5

Learn More Membrane Autopsy AWC is the only membrane specialty chemicals company that performs all its analytical services in-house. We invite customers who are interested to witness the various parts of the autopsy process, including electron microscopy with x-ray spectroscopy and elemental mapping (SEM/EDS/PED/SEI), FTIR, Raman, and other state-of-the-art analytical testing. Owning our equipment allows us to be more thorough, testing samples along the entire length of a membrane, and analyzing the membrane surface after a cleaning study to search for mechanical damage that would not be detectable when covered by foulants. Our autopsy reports are widely reputed to be the most thorough in the industry Learn More Laboratory Services AWC has the capability to conduct water analyses and membrane antiscalant projections for Reverse Osmosis and Nanofiltration systems. AWC can also conduct chemical dosage determinations for our antiscalants, coagulants, and flocculants. For clients with extreme scaling or inorganic fouling conditions, AWC can synthesize identical water chemistries in the lab to determine optimal pretreatment and control limits. Water Analysis Complete inorganic water analysis for NF/RO antiscalant projections and corrosion inhibitor recommendations. Learn More ROSSEP Process Lab simulation for prediction of scaling in NF/RO systems. The ROSSEP process can be used to verify calculated software predictions for maximum recovery, optimal pH, and lowest effective antiscalant dosage. Learn More Materials Characterization Identification of unknown deposits or materials using a variety of analytical techniques. Learn More On-site Membrane Cleaning AWC can provide personal and portable cleaning equipment for membrane cleanings at customers’ sites. AWC can also train customer’s personnel on the operational and cleaning processes of RO plants. Learn More System Monitoring & Optimization The AWC System Monitoring and Optimization Solution has been developed for Long-Term and Short-Term Monitoring and Performance Optimization for RO/MF/NF/UF Membrane Filtration systems. We can provide a strategy for formulating appropriate long-term 2/5

monitoring programs that can be implemented at lower costs for maximum production efficiency. AWC uses scientific and statistical methods applied to site-specific data that accounts for relevant current and historical site data to develop an optimization plan for the current system and the best possible solution. AWC can also help clients in start-up of new systems and will perform system normalization of data provided by the client to ensure that their membrane system continues to operate with optimal permeate production and minimal power consumption. Learn More Pilot Studies AWC is able to conduct pilot studies using state of the art pilot R.O. units designed to simulate actual site conditions. These pilot plants are mobile and can be dispatched to the customer’s plant site on short notice. Through these studies, our engineers are able to recommend effective solutions to persistent scaling and fouling problems resulting in a trouble-free operation and reduced operating cost for the customer. Products AWC® provides customized solutions for membrane cleaning, based on your feedwater chemistry, your operating restrictions and your treatment goals. Our aim is to ensure that your membrane system operates at maximum productivity without impacting your desired water quality. Reverse Osmosis & Nanofiltration Reverse Osmosis & Nanofiltration are now being used in a broad range of applications including potable water, mining, leachate, municipal and industrial reuse. AWC® has developed an extensive line of RO antiscalants, reverse osmosis membrane cleaning chemicals and biocides to control and reverse all scales and foulants that can form in these applications. Pretreatment Multimedia Filtration (MMF) is often used upstream of RO/NF to remove suspended solids that can cause plugging of membrane feed channels and damage the membrane surface. However, MMF media is only efficient at removing particles larger than 20 – 50 microns. AWC has developed a line of membrane compatible organic and inorganic coagulants that agglomerate smaller silts, clays and colloids into larger clusters that are more efficiently filterable. All polymers have been tested extensively to ensure safe use with RO/NF membranes even in case of slight overdosing. Learn More Reverse Osmosis (RO) Antiscalant Our high performance reverse osmosis (RO) antiscalant are effective at remarkably low dosages. The use of AWC antiscalants can eliminate the need for acid dosing, enable plants to operate at higher recoveries, and reduce cleaning frequencies. AWC has developed highly effective inhibitors that are unparalleled in the industry at controlling the 3/5

most challenging scales. All AWC antiscalants are NSF approved for use in potable membrane systems. Learn More RO Biocides AWC RO biocides have been specifically selected for use with RO/NF membranes. Our product line includes oxidizing and non-oxidizing biocides that are selected based on water quality and frequency of biological fouling. Learn More Dechlorination Chemicals AWC dechlorination chemicals have been specially formulated for long term shelf-life and are odor-free. In addition to neutralizing free and combined chlorine to protect RO/NF membranes, they also deactivate all other oxidizing and non-oxidizing biocides; this makes them essential tools for environmental discharge. Learn More RO Membrane Cleaning Chemicals AWC RO membrane cleaning chemicals are highly effective for removing even the most stubborn scales and foulant from RO/NF membranes. High pH and low pH chemicals are available in liquid and powder form. All AWC cleaning chemicals are NSF approved for use in potable membrane systems. Learn More Microfiltration/Ultrafiltration Chemicals MF/UF systems are widely used for treating surface and wastewater, and are sometimes applied as pretreatment for RO/NF systems. AWC has developed an extensive line of antiscalants and cleaning chemicals for use with MF/UF systems. Membrane Antiscalant MF/UF membranes do not reject salts, and scaling is therefore not a common occurrence. However, scaling can occur under certain conditions, especially in systems where air sparging is used frequently or high pH chemically enhanced backwashes (CEB) are applied. AWC has developed a line of membrane antiscalants that are approved for use in potable MF/UF systems. All AWC antiscalants are NSF approved for use in potable membrane systems. Learn More Cleaning Chemicals AWC MF/UF cleaning chemicals are proprietary formulations for extremely stubborn foulants. While aggressive commodity chemicals such as bleach and caustic soda are commonly used with PVDF and PES membranes, they are not always effective at removing organic foulants. AWC has created a full line of MF/UF cleaning chemicals to address the varying chemical tolerances of PVDF, PES, PAN, PP, and CA membranes. All AWC cleaning chemicals are NSF approved for use in potable membrane systems. 4/5

Learn More MBR Chemicals Learn More MSF and MED Distillation Chemicals Learn More Post-Treatment Chemicals and Potable Water Corrosion Inhibitors RO permeate tends to be corrosive to metals. In potable water distribution systems, this can cause compliance issues with the EPA’s lead and copper rule, and consumer complaints about red water and rust staining. In industrial systems, corrosion can damage expensive equipment and reduce efficiency. AWC has created a line of corrosion inhibitors designed specifically for use with aggressive RO treated water. We manufacture corrosion inhibitors for potable water distribution as well as chillers and hot water systems.
