Backgrounder Jana Barros was born to Michael and Susan Barros on October 29, 1990. No tattoos No Piercings Jana Barros walked for four designers during February's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City. Her drawings were featured during the New York fashion show for the designer Paola Hernandez. Jana Barros studied on combined honors scholarships with the legendary Stefani Joseph at the Savannah College of Art & Design. During her time at SCAD she studied drawing and design with an emphasis upon color manipulation. Her passion for the theatre led her towards a Performing Arts BFA with a minor in music and a minor in dance. However, after two years at SCAD, Jana left school and signed with Anderson Model and Talent Agency in Amarillo, TX. Jana has over ten years theatre experience working in a professional setting as a performer, dance captain, and theatre technician. She received seven performance scholarships and studied eight years with the Grandstreet Summer Theatre School in Montana. She has participated in Conservatory Programs, and received Vocal Scholarships for vocal coaching. As well as designing for the Savannah College of Art and Design, she has painted and built sets in major theaters across the country. Her interest in music led her towards her career on stage and her passion to perform allowed her to receive an award of a perfect score at State Music Festivals for her solo aria in 2008. For her oratory, she has won the National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Out Loud Alternate at State in 2007 and 2008. She was awarded the title of Montana's Junior Miss which is now known by the name Distinguished Young Woman of Montana, and in 2008 competed at the National Competition in Mobile where she won First-Place for her sand-sculpture. Her satellite awards in Montana's Junior Miss include Interview, Fitness, and Onstage Question. Jana has trained in kick boxing and studied dance including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, modern, salsa, and swing, to name a few. Jana's artworks have been featured at the Holter Museum. Her poetry and art is represented in publications including Pen and Ink, Writings on the Wall, and Stars in Our Hearts. Jana received lessons in art from a young age, and she designed her own logo. Commissions are available for her works of art in mediums including graphics, web design, drawing, painting, and scultpture. Jana first got her experience as a teacher assisting the Advanced Third and Fourth Grade acting class at the Grandstreet Theatre under the tutlage of Education Director Marianne Adams in Helena, MT. Jana is now a talent scout at the Anderson Model and Talent Agency in Amarillo, TX where she gives classes in Runway and Improvisation. She is earning a long list of Brand Ambassador and Promotional Modeling credits. Last Summer, Jana Barros joined forces with the YMCA Program as the Theatre/Arts/HipHop Dance Instructor where she worked with children from ages 5 through 15. At the end of the eleven weeks of classes, Jana Barros direct and


co:produced the showcase that combined her North, South, and Midtown Classes in one event for parents to enjoy. Jana Barros got her start with music playing leads and packing houses in Helena, MT. She toured with children's theater, and was a published author at the age of 6. She has been a Dance Instructor for the Rocky Mountain Theatre Association's Youth Festival at Festivention. She attended Girl's State and has been awarded the American Legion Auxiliary by nomination of her peers. Jana Barros was the Vice President of the award winning choir Ambiance from 2007-2008, directed by Dr. Steve Michelson. Other awards include the Sarah Louise Hannah Vocal Scholarship. Grandstreet Theatre's Dance Award. Nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the SCAD Ovation Awards. MB Expo 1st Runner Up in Adult Female Actor Photography and MB Expo 1st Runner Up in Adult Female Fashion Model Swimsuit. MB Expo 2nd Runner Up in Adult Female Fashion Model Composite Card and MB Expo 2nd Runner Up in Adult Female Fashion Model Runway. Leaks and Battles: In her first rap battle, she won against Flatline. Her first single, "Represent" was released March 16, 2011. Her music has been leaked across net. This year an unfinished version of "Say That You Love Me" and "Invisible Food" were published to the web prior to the release of her first album Namesake which was released June 25, 2011. Jana Barros's Film Credits: Jana got her first big break in movies working with Dir. William Cheney and Dirk Benedict on Rekon 7 Down where Jana acted the role of Benedict's daughter. Dir. Robert Costello worked with Jana Barros on the art film Through Sames of Am which was featured in the Rome Film Festival 2010. Jana Barros announced through her website that she is also involved in the filming of the sequel to Through Sames of Am. Jana is acting in the project and also will be one of the cinematographers on the sequel to be titled Through Haves of Give after the poem by e.e. Cummings. Jana Barros started rapping and working with a Producer from Parnu called System Crasher. She got into the local hip hop scene working as a DJ in Amarillo, TX. When a recording engineer fell in love with her voice, the potential for the relationship grew into the studio Busted Records where Jana Barros Executively Produced the new LP, Namesake. Since then, Jana has released the new album, Namesake, available on itunes and in stores now. Jana Barros is number one on the rap charts for Amarillo.
