The purpose of
AS FOR ME As For Me Christian Directory will fill the needs of many people. This book was inspired by my personal experience of being a business owner with the motto: Christ First, Family & Friends Second, and Business Third. Joshua 24:15 As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. This verse was always there to remind me to shine the light of Christ each day to everyone who came into my business. The business people represented in the directory would rather choose a good name than all the riches of the world. They have verbalized their beliefs in Jesus Christ as the Son of the living God, and confess that He is Lord over their lives, home, and business. They are not exploiting their faith; but they desire to represent Christ in service to others. The vision of AS FOR ME Christian Directory is for Christians to support their brothers and sisters in the Lord, when possible. As Christians support one another, a portion goes back to the Lord’s work. To make this possible we feel that there is a need for businesses to be known. CF Marketing owner and staff believes the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative True Word of God. We believe in one God, eternally existents in three persons, Father-Son-Holy Spirit. We believe in the virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, His sinless life, His death and resurrection, His ascension to the right hand

of God the Father, and His personal return to take us home some day. Our salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not from works. We believe a Christian business can be a light to shine before men, that they may see good works and glorify our Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16) The AS FOR ME Christian directory consists of Christian Businesses and People, Missionary activities, Youth groups, Church schedules, Testimonies, and praises of Jesus Christ. All may be from various denominations, though some may differ on doctrine, we all agree that our personal faith in Jesus Christ and His Word is the basis of our fellowship. All advertisers in the Directory are businesses or people that have been recommended because of a Christian atmosphere in the business or their Christ-like behavior. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Matthew 7:20) Each directory will also have a special section called BROTHERS KEEPER. This is a place to notify if an advertiser’s business has shown unacceptable work or behavior. They will be notified and requested to make proper changes. This book is dedicated to my parents Harrol & Mary Richards Members of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church My mother’s life was a living example of actions speak louder than words. Her family’s needs always came before her own. When I reflect to my childhood I understand why I am the person I have become. Thru the values of honesty, modesty, helping others and always appreciating everyday what God has given you. Although she never taught a Sunday school class or attended a women’s ministry, her children, and grandchildren were her students. She taught us the greatest gift of all is Love. With her gentle touch and a never-ending smile her family and friends felt a warm comfort like none we have ever known. Although we miss her every day we know in heaven she has that same smile on her face and that special touch she shared with others was Christ within her. Now he is beside her each day. My father was also a great teacher. He is a deacon of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and taught Sunday School when his children were young. Through his life I have been shown humility, strong leadership, importance of Bible study, and much more. As a child I thought all dad’s were just like mine. Always there when I needed him, picking me up when I fell down, telling me I did a good job on all my school work, always slow to anger but I understood when I did wrong. I never heard a bad word or a negative saying come from his mouth. As an adult, I now know I am truly blessed to have a Christ- like father in my life. The National Day of Prayer The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, Owensboro National Day of prayer, Freedom Teen Rally, 24 hour Prayer Cover, Prayer Breakfast and Noon Prayer/ Worship Service. Also including the Circle of Good News is where over 365 people quietly reading aloud their scripture, so that the entire Bible is read in 20 minutes around the sidewalks of the Owensboro courthouse on Third Street. The Voice of Optometry in Developing Nations
Dr. Patrica Ward Adams exams patient in Jamaica Since 1971, the primary mission of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) / International is to facilitate the provision and sustainability of vision care worldwide to people who can neither afford nor obtain such care. In December, 2001 they partnered with the World Health Organization and pledged to eliminate preventable blindness by the year 2020. Dr. H. Ward and the team from Advantage Eye Care, from Owensboro, are making headway on VOSH/ International’s goal. June 2008, Dr. Ward led, his daughter Dr. Patrica Ward Adams, associate Dr. Roger Jones, and 20 others to Mandeville, Jamaica to give free eye exams as well as pairs of glasses. During their five day trip, they gave out over 1,700 pairs of glasses all of which were used and had been donated to the cause. Anyone that could not be fitted, recieved glasses by mail after the team returned home. If anyone would like to donate a pair of glasses they can be dropped off at Advantage Eye Care, located in Wesleyn Park Plaza Shopping Center. 21
Don’t Question God

I stopped at the water faucet in the middle of the school courtyard to wash my feet and shoes because it was very muddy. The young man I had seen earlier came over and helped wash my feet. I felt very humbled. When he finished he tried so very hard to talk to me and we got no where fast. I told him to wait and I went to look for a translator. Thank goodness one was close by! Through the translator he told me he was 18 years old, had just gotten out of jail after five months for armed robbery. We talked about what he was doing now and he said nothing. When I asked where he got his spending money he told me from his mother, who was a single parent. I told him he should be ashamed of himself for making his mother work so hard while he did nothing but spend her money. Apparently no one had ever said anything like that to him and looked at me very hard, then, to my surprise, agreed with me!
We continued talking for another hour and were joined by one of the men on our trip, who was going to live down there and become a full time missionary. To make a long story shorter, Meykel accepted Christ that day and truly turned his life around. He didn’t want to leave me. We ate supper together. He met my friends and daughter. That night during the evening service his friends kept coming over talking to him. I prayed that those friends would leave him alone, let him hear the preacher. One girl however did not leave for a long time. He kept talking to her and she cried. During the invitation time she went forward and accepted Christ as her Savior!

My friends had been inviting me to join them on a mission trip to Nicaragua for a couple of years before I finally said I’d go. I had prayed about it and felt God told me I was needed there, God told me there was someone I was to talk to. As I prepared for the trip I kept praying that God would reveal to me what he wanted me to do specifically. I had the opportunity of working in Children’s Church that week when we did a medical and dental clinic. We had four children’s services a day and I kept seeking that “special” reason that God wanted me to go on that trip. It was the last day we were in the village just before our last service and our children’s church leader had gotten ill and could not teach. I was told about five minutes before the service started that I was now in charge! As I was preparing the chairs for the service a nice looking teenage young man named Meykel came over and began helping me. He spoke no English and I spoke no Spanish. He tried and tried to talk to me but I had our translator tell him I must get the children and would talk to him after the service. After the service was over I did not see him and went ahead and put my puppet stage and equipment away. I began to talk to God and tell Him my disappoint in not finding what He had specifically in mind for me to do. 22
The next morning as we were packing to leave Meykel came. He was afraid I would forget him. I assured him I wouldn’t, that I had our picture in my camera and he smiled. I gave him my name tag and he put it on. I understood as we drove away, Meykel was the reason God sent me to Nicaragua. Meykel had listened to others talk about God but he chose to pay attention to a grayhaired grandmother. Meykel told me I was beautiful, God had surely blinded him with His love when He saved Meykel’s soul. Meykel understands we will one day meet again in heaven. Never doubt when God directs you to go somewhere. He’ll let you know the details at the right time!
