a Losing (Escaping?) Academic Tenure at the Age of 53 by James Ron | Sep 17, 2020 | career change, Entrepeneurship, James Ron, Research

For most of my professional life, I have been a salaried employee. After leaving graduate school in 1999, I landed my rst teaching and research job at Johns Hopins University, and then never left academia for 21 years. McGill University in Montreal, Carleton University in Ottawa, CIDE in Mexico City, and then the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. The salaries got a bit better, the bene ts improved slightly, and I never worried about health insurance for my family.
