2017 Designed for Life Sponsorship Packet

Page 1

Dear Friend, I want to thank you for your consideration in partnering with us in reaching thousands of women through the Designed for Life Conference! At the core of the conference is the desire to place value on every woman and girl and help her understand that no matter what her history, age, or season in life… she was magnificently and beautifully designed by God on purpose and for a purpose. As well, to help her see that she was not meant to navigate life alone- but to be welcomed into the ever-expanding DFL Sisterhood who love and care about her! Due to the incredible growth of the event- we are excited to host two conferences again this year! We’re anticipating an estimated record number of 11,500 women in attendance; including approximately 300 girls from local and national shelters and group homes. We are filled with anticipation as we believe this growth opens the door for businesses and individuals to partner with us and be blessed in doing so! With this in mind, if you would like to join us in this effort, we would greatly appreciate your support as a “DFL Sponsor.” In this packet, you will find several sponsorship opportunities and details related to each one. We encourage you to prayerfully consider the options and how you can be a part of all that God is doing through DFL. Thank you for considering this opportunity! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Blessings,

Hannah Cartwright (on behalf of Pastor Debbie Lindell) 417-581-5433 Designedforlife.org

KAYCEE’S STORY Kaycee grew up in a home where appearances were everything. “Looking good” was so important although it all was very different behind closed doors. Sexual abuse towards Kaycee began when she was 3 years old. At the hands of different people, the abuse continued. While that was going on, Kaycee’s home was in such a state of confusion…a dad with a violent temper and mom, who made sure they wore nice clothes on Sunday – so it would look like that had been to church. All of this emotional turmoil continued as Kaycee grew older. For a time, in junior high, she would cut her face, hoping that someone would talk with her and rescue her from her home. The bullying at school and the struggles at home were too immense to handle. Kaycee was making dangerous decisions and running with a really bad crowd. It was then, Kaycee was sent to live with an Aunt and Uncle in Louisiana. Kaycee’s time in LA was strengthening. She was surrounded with wonderful people at the church she attended with her family. It was here that she really developed a love for worship and being a part of that team. Sadly, after two years, Kaycee witnessed two people being hit and crushed by a car. The image continuously tormented her and sent her life spiraling back out of control. She started running from party to party, putting herself in the same situations she had run from before. In time, Kaycee ran back to her parents’ home, only to be greeted with the same issues she desperately needed to leave. After a couple months, in the midst of family turmoil and abuse, Kaycee’s struggle with an eating disorder accelerated and she ended up in the hospital. At this time, she was introduced to Mercy Multiplied (a Christ-centered, residential treatment center for girls). During Kaycee’s time at Mercy Multiplied, she was able to attend the Designed for Life conference. Before the conference, Kaycee had been working on a plan to kill herself. "But when I saw the women at the conference, so passionate, joyful and celebrating this “God” I knew there had to be some validity to His realness. I went back to Mercy Multiplied and told my counselor that after being at the conference, “those women” made me believe through their passion and love for God, that there had to be something to that and I wanted to investigate. It was then that I found Jesus and a reason to live." Kaycee graduated from Mercy Multiplied and has been part of James River Church for 2 years now! She has connected well with people who love her dearly! Kaycee has helped with the Worship/Production Team and is growing in her musical gifts. She has written two worship songs that beautifully reflect her love for Jesus. She's now enjoying a wonderful job as a creative designer for a successful company in Springfield. God has been good to Kaycee and faithful to see her through many trials. She is celebrating His great love and is passionately serving the Lord with her life!

KILA’S STORY AS A YOUNG GIRL, MY LIFE WAS FILLED WITH CHRONIC EMOTIONAL TURMOIL… I was a very damaged, miserable mess. I ran myself ragged trying to live up to the expectations of those who were supposed to love me. No matter how hard I tried, I would hear… “Kila, you’re an embarrassment!” “You’re worthless!” “You’re a failure!”. Acceptance and love were things I rarely ever received or felt. To make matters worse, it wasn’t just people I was trying to please– it was God as well. I found myself frantically trying to work my way to Heaven and I would beat myself up every time I failed. My senior year of high school, I fell in love with a guy and we were married within a few years. I thought my days of feeling unloved were over, but, I was wrong – my life went from bad to worse. At just 24 years of age, I found myself divorced. That was the worst experience of my life. It was during that time I looked to God as the only source for the love and acceptance I longed for, and completely surrendered my heart to Him. It wasn’t until I began to read His Word that I realized what I was missing. It was mindboggling for me to learn that His love was a free gift—I didn’t have to earn it! Designed for Life was the first conference I ever attended. To be totally honest, at first, I did not want to go. I did not feel like I had much in common with other girls—I didn’t get my nails done, I rarely fussed with my hair, and the idea of contouring my makeup sounded like some kind of torture treatment! So, the idea of spending time with a bunch of girls was not very appealing at all. However, I did have a desire to grow in my relationship with God, and since I had been given the gift of a registration, I decided to give it a try. When I walked through the doors, the atmosphere was electric. I had never seen that many people in one place who were so excited for Jesus. The speakers were incredible and the worship was like nothing I had ever experienced before. There was such a consuming presence of God in that place. I remember at one point, looking around the auditorium. I didn’t see painted nails or trendy clothes or perfectly styled hair - I saw hearts. I saw tears on cheeks and hands lifted toward Heaven, and in that moment God changed me.

WANDA’S STORY I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW I FELT THE VERY FIRST TIME I WALKED IN. I was invited to Designed for Life by a dear friend. At the time, I didn’t know anything at all about the event. What I did know, is that I was a simple girl who attended a small church with a Sunday morning attendance of between 30 – 40 people. And, there I was, feeling very overwhelmed as I walked towards the door - there were so many women! The most amazing thing happened in that moment. Immediately, I felt a sense of calm and peace flood my heart as girls greeted me, welcoming me inside. I don’t even know why I say I felt “calm,” because there was so much excitement and energy in that place – everywhere I looked girls were talking and laughing. Anticipation filled the air and I immediately felt comfortable and at home. That first night of the conference changed my walk with God forever! It was like nothing I had ever seen or experienced in my life. As I watched thousands of women, young and old, gathered together in that place, lifting their arms and praising God with one voice – my heart opened up as never before to all that He had for me. Being sixty years old at the time, I was a little surprised that I reacted the way that I did. Completely overwhelmed by emotion in that beautiful, lifegiving atmosphere., I knew, that God was going to use this experience to reveal more of Himself to me, and I was ready! The amazing thing is this – here I am five years later, and it just keeps getting better and better – each year God reveals more to me than ever before – and it will be the same for you, I promise you that!

PROJECT 12 At the core of Designed for Life is a passionate and genuine longing to rise up with strength and resolve. Together, we are on a mission to bring a revolution of hope and healing to women and girls in our circle of influence and beyond. We endeavor to use our connected lives; combining our individual talents, passions and resources for a divinely inspired purpose—to display the light of Heaven in the darkness, bring justice to those who are oppressed and place VALUE and WORTH on every human LIFE! This year, as part of our PROJECT 12 giving, we are expanding our efforts to refugees who have been forced to leave their homes in the war-torn regions of the Middle East. By partnering with Convoy of Hope, we will be working to provide undergarments and feminine supplies to women and girls in refugee camps. This seemingly small gift will be a tremendous blessing—bringing dignity and worth to their hurting lives and reminding them that they are not forgotten: there is a sisterhood who loves them, believes in them, and is praying for them. Your giving is making a difference! God is moving in response to your gracious, generous hearts. He is using you—this committed and unified Sisterhood—to inspire faith where there was doubt, to give hope in the midst of despair, to bring freedom... rescuing and restoring broken and hurting lives. Through you, the grace, beauty and light of Salvation is being revealed to thousands of women and girls around the world! UNITED WE LOVE EACH OTHER, TOGETHER WE CHANGE THE WORLD
