Match Report Pre Season Friendly Action Penn & Tylers Green FC 1 Uxbridge FC 4

The game was competitive enough and Penn & Tylers Green FC did well trying to play and compete. The third goal was unfortunate as this was scored from a clear off side position with their player being at least two yards off.

This was yet another excellent workout for the boys in blue & white. On a very humid and hot summer afternoon here at French School Meadows we took on today’s visitors Uxbridge Football Club who made the Soon after that another good move relatively short trip from their Hon- down the right led to a free kick for us eycroft ground in Middlesex. after a foul close to the box. Chris Hurst was unlucky not to score with Again there was a good crowd today the woodwork being hit in the follow including a ground hopper who came up. The fourth goal for the opposition all the way from Market Harborough. made the game safe for them. Our opponents this afternoon apply their trade in the Southern League, Division One – Central. It has to be said that this has been the strongest opposition we have faced in our preseason programme thus far. They looked strong and played some good football in the process. The good thing this afternoon was that our team did do well, too. We started off very well and took the lead early after a very good move and interchange of passes. The outcome was a foul in the penalty area which was put away well from the spot by Chris Hurst. After about 20 minutes or so the visitors’ quality stated to come through and they scored two quick goals (one of which was an excellent move followed up with a thunderous shot from close range) to take a 2:1 lead into the half time break. Just before that Jamie Jackson made an excellent save from an overhead kick. Good football all-round in a preseason friendly – not bad.

As said before the outcome in preseason friendlies is of secondary importance but it is always nice to play well and trying to get decent results against a team playing higher up in the non-league pyramid. On the final whistle both teams can look back at an excellent pre-season workout. With us improving further and introducing two of our youth team players from last season (Jack Pearce and Brad Holland) our pre-season programme is on schedule and this was another positive afternoon. Well done the Penn & Tylers Green FC.

Pre Season Friendly Action Bracknell Town FC 3 Penn & Tylers Green FC 2

Penn & Tylers Green FC 0 Chalfont St. Peter AFC 0 This was another good workout for the boys in blue & white. On a lovely warm summer evening here at French School Meadows we took on our near neighbours Chalfont St. Peter AFC who made the short trip from Mill Meadow.

On a very humid and rainy summer’s afternoon Cantley Park we were today’s visitors against Bracknell Town Football Club who kindly organised today’s fixture. Again it was good to see our usual supporters coming all the across the Chiltern Hills to cheer us on The Robbins play their football in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Hellenic League and it was a very competitive encounter in our last preseason programme.

No one would have complained if we and returned home with a result today.

When the final whistle went we can look back at a positive outcome with us improving further in our preseason programme. Well done the boys in blue & white.

For both of the opposition’s goals in the first half we just did not switch on defensively, otherwise the boys in blue & white actually had the better of the goal opportunities.

The game was competitive enough and some of the players missing last Saturday were available today including some new players who were tried out today. One of them was our goal keeper who made some of excellent saves in both halves. We had some very good chances ourselves and in the second half we hit the bar after a very good move down the right flank. Soon after that after another good move it was only a deflection which prevented us from scoring.

This was a very worthwhile exercise for the boys in blue & white one week before the season starts.

It was good to see a good crowd to watch this game. Our opponents tonight play in the Southern League and the gap in the divisions was not that noticeable as we gave them a good game. The outcome in preseason friendlies is of secondary importance but it is always nice to play well and get good results against a team playing higher up in the nonleague pyramid.
