Message from St Vincent and the Grenadines Public Service Union (SVGPSU)

On behalf of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Public Service Union executive and membership, we extend warm congratulations to the Executive and members of the Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) as you celebrate this historical occasion of your 105th Annual General meeting over the period May 26-27, 2022.

The struggles over the years and your objectives for the future indicate substantial support to the theme. Since the early 1900s, the union has proven persistence and consistency in its approach while advocating for its members. Despite the challenges, there is a need for trade unions to be effective and efficient while acting as the bargaining agent for workers. Therefore, we must embrace the survival mode and employ a more dynamic and authoritative approach to prosper in the trade union movement. In this era, the need for consistency and persistence is critical, and the continued need to champion the cause of workers as we transition from simply surviving to prosperity and growth as professional organizations.

We wish to applaud the union on its achievements, and we hope that this meeting will produce positive strategies for better and viable achievements. It is indeed a pleasure for the Public Service Union of St Vincent and the Grenadines to address this solidarity message to your Executive and members. Moreover, the struggle to uphold members rights and the obligation of trade unions ensures fundamental equity that the organization can achieve in the future; this is what Martin Luther King fought for. Do have a successful meeting

There is no question that the Jamaica Civil Service Association faced several setbacks. Still, you have persevered as you are committed to upholding the highest qualities of professional service to the nation by guaranteeing a highly trained workforce of competent and committed persons. The Public Service Union salute you as you have developed and maintained a track record of advocacy and representation to the working class who have contributed tremendously to nation-building.
