MESSAGE FROM BERMUDA PUBLIC SERVICES UNION

On behalf of President Bro. Armel Thomas, the Executive Committee and General Council Officers of the Bermuda Public Services Union, we extend fraternal greetings on the occasion of The Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA)’s 103rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held May 26-27, 2022.

Your theme for the AGM is timely. “PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT, ADVOCATING FOR THE WORKER: Moving from Surviving to Thriving”. As we collectively maneuver our way through the unchartered post-pandemic world, Unions must move beyond surviving the pandemic to maximizing the opportunities that have arisen due to the rapidly changing world of work.

Unions must be prepared to adapt, evolve, and transform themselves. In order to do so, we must recalibrate our focus, enhance our skills, and rebuild our capacity while at the same time re-establish our commitment to protecting and expanding workers’ rights and benefits.

May your deliberations inspire meaningful dialogue for the betterment of the members of JCSA and the wider trade union movement.
