Interactive e-commerce platform Dragon Mart launched the Dragon Mart mobile application (Dragonmart), an end-to-end transactional shopping platform that allows users to purchase wholesale items directly from the app. This strategic initiative by Nakheel and DP World is an extension to Dragon Mart’s omnichannel model and comes after the successful launch of Dragonmart.ae in Q4 2020. Bringing wholesale bargains to customers’ fingertips, the Dragon Mart app is an extension to the website, featuring more than 90,000 products with competitive price points across key categories including home, garden, furniture, home improvements, tools and more. Designed to connect Dragon Mart’s retailers with customers across the UAE and beyond, the app promises to deliver a seamless, convenient shopping experience and contactless delivery within 48 hours.
Omar Khoory, Chief Assets Officer at Nakheel, said: “In September 2020, we digitised the largest B2B and B2C wholesale marketplace with the launch of Dragonmart.ae. As a secondary step, we decided to bring Dragon Mart even closer to the consumer and launched a mobile application with thousands of products available at customers’ fingertips. As one of the leading online retail markets in the region, the UAE continues to foster an environment that supports the growth of e-commerce, and this will allow our new app to thrive. Championing the government’s vision in accelerating digital adoption, we will continue to devise new ways to help connect our wholesalers with customers everywhere.”
Towards digital transformation The e-commerce platform harnesses digital transformation to connect Dragon Mart retailers to customers across the UAE and beyond. The move online was set to elevate the shopping experience where customers can purchase the wide selection of goods in Dragon Mart from the convenience of their homes. Omar Khoory emphasized: “The launch of the Dragon Mart App represents another key milestone in the brand’s journey towards digital transformation. Significant shifts have been brought forth in the shopping industry, and as a brand that places digital innovation at the core, we wanted to take this step to meet the evolving requirements of SMEs as well as consumers. By leveraging our smart logistics and value-driven offering, we delivered a strong and seamless platform that aims to elevate the customer’s shopping experience as well as support the growth aspirations of the traders”. Amidst shifting consumer trends to e-commerce, the UAE’s SME sector is set to benefit from smart transformation, as more than 30 per cent of items purchased at Dragon Mart are directly linked to business owners of small to medium enterprises. The Dragonmart app is available for download on the Apple Store and Google Play Store under Dragonmart.
Successful partnership with DP World Bringing wholesale bargains to the fingertips of customers across a range of competitive price points, Dragon Mart e-commerce platforms deliver contactless experience to people at their doorsteps. The speedy delivery timings are in part due to the fact that Dragon Mart already utilises the DP World ports, coupled with the top of the line logistics management through the Dubai-based entity. This evolution in retail will see an onsite fulfilment centre powered by DP World at Dragon Mart in order to streamline the logistics and delivery, as well as maintain a superior B2B and B2C services across the UAE.
The collaboration between DP World and Nakheel reflects a strategic and forward-looking partnership. The expansion to the online space firmly positions the Dragon Mart app as an e-commerce disruptor that is very much in line with Dubai’s innovation agenda.
