Syracuse Univeristy - Studio Professor Daekwon Park 2017

The Connective Corridor in Syracuse, New York, serves as a vital link between the University and the city, featuring public art, historical landmarks, unique programs, and public parks. To address concentrated zones of high and low activity, my solution focused on enhancing engagement among students and residents. By incorporating successful design strategies from the bustling downtown area and merging them with the existing residential conditions, I created a mixed-use zone that fosters social and economic collaboration for the betterment of the community and student life. Two buildings were strategically positioned at the corner, offering student and residential apartments, study spaces, retail stores, a 24-hour gym, public gardens, and communal sports facilities. These buildings are connected by a public green space and garden, providing potential for future art installations.
