MIT Philadelphia Council/Shira Chapter enjoyed its 2012 Mother-in-Israel event at the home of Monica Rasch in Merion in June. Honoree Dr. Nancy Isserman Horwitz spoke eloquently and elaborated on her and her family’s deep and ongoing love for the State of Israel. A delicious dinner was catered by Circa of Lakewood and the Torah Academy Girls Choir provided the musical interlude.

5 towns generations-in-israel lunch by Bill Rothchild

he annual “Generations in Israel” luncheon was held on May 21 at the Sephardic Temple in Cedarhurst, NY. This multi-generational event was planned to coincide with Yom Yerushalayim and is the signature event of the Sabra and Massada Chapters of the Five Towns. This year Sara Leifer was honored as the chapters’ Inter-Generational Woman of the Year for her caring and devotion to the work of AMIT. Sara has been a loyal member of the Sabra Chapter and she, along with her wonderful family, were present as guest speaker, Rebbitzin Shirley Pelcovitz, told the audience about the wonderful acts of chesed that the Leifer family has performed over the years.
