A magazine prototype for a hypothetical rebrand of Rolling Stone Magazine. The new strategy for the magazine is to adapt its editorial voice to contemporary youth culture, doing so by going back the original mission of the magazine "to view cultural and political events through the lens of music, while uplifting independent and non-mainstream artists.
The new visual language references the Fluxus movement of the 1960s, while using analog techniques of collage. The entire direction references and acknowledges the past of Rolling Stone while being future-focused.
This prototype issue looks at contemporary music and how it reacts to and instigates protest in the United States and around the world.
This project was done during a Typography 4 class as part of the Graduate Graphic Design Program at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
