On September 11, 2016, the children’s fashion designer Jackie Tejada will showcase her newest collection for Spring-Summer 2017 in a fashion event in New York Fashion Week to benefit St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This facility is dedicated to treat children with catastrophic diseases. Children from all 50 states and from around the world are treated in this hospital and families never receive a bill for treatment. This event, titled New York Fashion Gallery, is one of the fashion events held during New York Fashion Week. At each show, New York Fashion Gallery draws in approximately 200 attendees and the participation of fashion industry professionals, designers, buyers and media outlets. The event draws affluent audience including celebrities from music, sports and film. Jackie Tejada will be joined by a group of models from 7 to 12 years old who will model the 30 outfits prepared for this event. Puerto Rican designer presents in New York Fashion Week San Juan, Puerto Rico – The fashion designer, Jackie Tejada has been selected to showcase her newest collection “Little Miss Jackie Goes to New York” on September 11th, 2016 in New York City. The collection for Spring-Summer 2017 will be presented at the New York Fashion Gallery at Affinia Hotel on 7th Avenue. Through the selling of entrance tickets, Jackie Tejada and her team aim to raise $10,000 to donate to St. Jude Children Research Hospital. Throughout her career, Jackie has dedicated her art to the confection of children’s apparel and her desire is that funds raised during the event benefit children that receive medical attention at St. Jude. Jackie Tejada is a Puerto Rican children’s fashion designer with over 25 years of experience. Her art has taken her abroad to showcase her collections at show and exhibitions. BIOGRAPHY CAREER BEGINNINGS At the age of eleven and while living in New York City, Jackie Tejada would spend afternoons at her father’s sewing factory where she grew eager to learn to sew. During her

adolescence, Jackie took sewing classes in a community center in Bayamón, Puerto Rico that owned only one sewing machine. As a result, students would have to learn how to

design schools with teachers and fashion designers such as Carlota Alfaro, Hilcia Verberena and Pilar Silva.

A very important teacher in Jackie’s life is a woman who used to take public transportation with her. In each ride, the

older woman would teach Jackie how to do Smocking. After years of practice and education, Jackie has mastered the Smocking. This embroidery technique consists of gathering fabric in a way it can stretch without the use of elastic bands. Smoking has been present in the majority of Jackie Tejada’s collections.
When Jackie’s daughter was born, she felt the desire to sew for her. Everyone would praise the clothes her daughter would wear and even some mothers would say that they would love if they could dress their daughters in designs like the ones Jackie made.Jackie’s designs have been presented in craft fairs and fashion shows. In 1998, she participated in Feria Bacardi with two spaces to showcase and sell her designs. With more than 25 years of career, Jackie has created vibrant and elegant designs that are age appropriate and fashion forward. RECENT EVENTS Jackie designs have been showcased in Puerto Rico’s most important fashion events such as Puerto Rico High Fashion Week and San Juan Moda. In September 2016, she will present her newest collection, Little Miss Jackie Goes to New York in the Fashion Gallery during New York Fashion Week.
