5.8.1 The OO API layer component of the client New in Content Manager Version 8 is the use of the DB2 client as the connection from the client or mid-tier server to the Library Server. In many earlier implementations of the Content Manager, the DB2 client was installed alongside the Content Manager client to support other functions required by the client. Now the Content Manager client can take advantage of the DB2 communications capability. The Content Manager client OO APIs convert the API calls to the database calls. This removes the multiple conversions that previously occurred in the earlier Information Integrator for Content (EIP) client APIs.
