WELCOME TO FORM

2

When forms break from the confines of a flat page, reaching up into open space, designs take on new realities. MISSION Form is a pop up shop that brings design expertise all the way from the University of Houston and presents it to a consumer base on the go. Form sells a variety of products, from mind-challenging 3D puzzle games, to tshirts and apparel.

3

Logo The Form Logo must always be flat and must maintain the specific shapes around it. It primarily consists of two colors and utilizes white and magenta.

4

The central goal of the Form logo, as with any logo, is to draw attention and awareness to the brad. The Form logo plays with the idea of dimensionality and references the acrylic morphing puzzle product.

The form logo uses solid colors as well, but only allows cobalt, magenta, and sometimes white. The white logo, as displayed in the business cards must be supported by a cobalt or indigo background, while the two logos displayed here on page 5 must always be supported by a white background to ensure proper contrast.

WORDMARK

LOGO

11

Because the logo has floating, morphing forms that accompany the wordmark, the full lockup calls for ample margins and negative space to preserve its legibility.

12

This displays the other variations or ways in which the brand may be presented. Certain lockups are suited best for certain moments. The Logo also has a variation where the subtitle is subtracted from the overall system and just the form letters are present in order to achieve a more minimalist look that people can instantly and unconsciously associate with us as a class.

13

In terms of imagery that decorates the environment, three posters would be printed at a larger scale to adorn the lattermost wall. The playful, shifting forms morph in and out to convey a sense of dynamism. The tilted letterforms place emphasis on perspective and speak to design’s interest in experimentation with alphabet characters, pushing them to the limits of legibility but `never sacrificing clarity.

IMAGERY

14

The posters all showcase three different major colors, but all still act as a cohesive unit, utilizing the same four central colors: cobalt, grey, magenta, and white. These colors reference blueprint plans (the blue and white) to suggest construction, innovation, and invention. The magenta and halftone dots, however, speak to the processes of printing.

15

The product to be sold to raise funds for our class will be an acrylic puzzle, which demonstrates how forms can transform and extend into space. It provides a visual metaphor through which any individual can build and create. It reainfroces the idea that drives design at its core: experimentation gives way to new meaning. Each new twist and turn of the pieces becomes visually stimulating as the forms reflect and refract light.

17

Inspiration was taken from blueprints and floorplans, once again speaking to the notion that a designer not only creates on paper as a visual artist, but is also a builder, an innovator, or a constructor of worlds. We designers are interdisciplinary individuals who draw insights from various fields, namely drawing, typography, sculpture, and even architecture and fashion.

INSPIRATION

18

Designers craft things out of physical media in order to bring ideas to life and bring them into the tangible plane, constantly striving for more interactivity with the audience or clientele.

19

We are FORM: UHGD19 Lastly, the environment embodies all of the qualities of UHGD19, our class: its quirks, its sophistication, and its vibrance. It takes these qualities and puts them in a physical space, inviting others into our minds. The items to be sold will be placed in these interesting, collapsible shelves that work in the same manner as the morphing puzzle product. They are made of squares with grooves in the corners that allow for interlocking and building. The form logo will be displayed not on a banner, but on a slab of tinted acrylic, holding to the same acrylic, translucent motif expressed throughout the entire visual system.
