Case Study Building: OVAL PAVILION 1. TITLE BLOCK Types of information found in the title block on the floor plan page: • Project name • Client • Architect • Person in charge of • Person involved

2. DRAWING CONTENT-‐PLANS Types of information shown in this floor plan: • Grid • Windows, doors • Area • Dimensions, • Floor level Example of dimensions as they appear on this floor plan: Units used for dimensions: Is there a grid? What system is used for identifying the grid lines? • YES. The purpose of the legend? • Provide enough information for construction workers to understand the drawings. Why are some parts of the drawing annotated? Illustrate how the annotations are associated with the relevant part of the drawing. How are windows and doors identified? Provide an example of each. Is there a rationale to their numbering? What do these numbers mean? Can you find the answer some where in the drawings? Anti-‐clockwise. D22 G.305 Illustrated how floor levels are noted on the plan? • FFL 47.550m FFL 45.150m

H= 47.550-‐45.150=2.400 m Are some areas of the drawings clouded? • YES. Grass land.

3. DRAWING CONTENT-‐ELEVATIONS Types of information shown in this elevation; How does it differ from the information shown on the plan? • Window, door • Material Are dimensions shown? If so, how do they differ from the dimension on the plan? Provide an example of the dimensions as they related to the elevation.

Only some of dimensions are shown. Between 3 and 4 What types of levels are shown on the elevations? Illustrated how levels are shown in relation to the elevation. G levels Is there a grid? If so, how/ where is it shown? • Yes. What types of information on the elevations are expressed using words? Illustrate how this is done. • Materials, finished section, things need to be changed Illustrate how the doors and windows are identified on the elevations. W 01 D 01 2.19 2.05 Find where this elevation is located on the plans A21-‐02

4. DRAWING CONTENT-‐SECTIONS Types of information shown in this section; How does it differ from the

information shown on the plan and elevation? • Gril • Level info • Room function Illustrate how the section drawing differentiated between building elements that are cut through and those that are shown in elevation (beyond). Provide examples of how different materials are shown on the sections. Find where this section is located on the plans

5. DRAWING CONTENT-‐DETAILS What sorts of things are detailed? • Internal details and finishes, building canopy, stairs Are the details compressed using break lines? Why? Yes. Provide examples of how different materials are shown on drawings at this scale. Find the locations of these details on the plans, elevations and sections.

Summary: Span: The distance measured between two structural supports. (Newton, 2014). (Please refer to Figure X). FIGURE X Spacing: “is the repeating distance between a series of like or similar elements.” (Newton,2014). • is usually measured center-‐line to center-‐line. (Please refer to Figure X).
