01 PRECIOUS CORE Instructor: Danielle Willems Studio Partner: Ellison Turpin Through the analysis of the heavy, fast, and resilient, the human and machinic spaces clash to form impenetrable barriers against access. These protected cores move past each other preventing an understanding of the workings within and a mis-perception of the machinic as inhumane and void. Integration of the machinic as vital to the comfort and flow of human space, spurs a new perception of the machinic as a space of infinite possibility. Slicing through the building and piercing the human space, the data reveals itself.

02 IMMINENT PRECIPICE Instructor: Mirka Brooks This archive is monumental. It is a monolith; seemingly solid and impenetrable. Extruded from the ground, it transforms the museum courtyard into a fortified collective space. The thick wall poche is filled with museum artifacts. Whether it is imbedded into the wall or seen from afar, the past is encompassing. They implore us to share in collectively, not selectively. The various museum collections are intermixed next to each other, crossreferencing time periods and cultures. As you move along the shifting planes, assembly places emerge. We must come together to preserve our objects and ourselves. We become embedded in the walls themselves. The only escape is the old museum courtyard below. This valley between the old and new heals the schism. It is meant for the collective.

03 HOOPHOUSE: TENT CITY Instructor: Scott Erdy Inspired by the simple structure of a greenhouse, this design creates a more climate-controlled environment. It also provides a sense of security in place and food. The canopy of the cold house increases length of time viable for plant growth in a season. The design is mean to nurture the growth and development of the plants but also of the tent city inhabitants. The Hoophouse elevates the tent city to its tallest green roofs to provide privacy as those occupying the tent city transition into apartment and single home dwellings. The core of the building is a courtyard to promote a sense of community. This community supports its inhabitants by providing food, social engagement as well as spaces for medical, financial, and overall assistance. The tent city is brought to the attention of the city while remaining private and protected.

04 NUEVAS CENTRALIDADES Instructor: David Gouverneur Studio Partner: Yifei Zhia Every year, our interdisciplinary studio takes on a Latin-American city. This year we traveled to the Metropolitan Area of the City of Guatemala. Guatemala is the 5th most biodiverse countries and has a rich cultural legacy. Due to the topographic conditions, it is a quilt of fragmented urban areas. This fracture increases the social division and limits mobility between the regions. In collaboration with the Villa Nueva Municipality Officials and Lanscape and Architecture students from the Universidad de San Carlos, we developed proposals for the Municipality of Villa Nueva. Villa Nueva is the Southmost frontier of the metropolitan area. It has some of the richest agricultural lands in the area in large swaths due to the presence of the main agricultural school in the country.

05 PROFESSIONAL WORK Residential Building for Alterra Property Group The scope of this project included developing a residential apartment building in the heart of Center City, Philadelphia. My responsibilities for this project included the design development of the unit layout, specification of materials for exterior faรงade and interior finishes, and producing the documentation set throughout design development and construction. My contribution during client meetings was to present design options and further develop design concepts with the client. The team for this project consisted of the lead principal, the project coordinator and me.

06 DRAWING COURSE: ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATION LONDON UK These sketches are a selection from “Drawing the Nation’s Cupboard” at the Architecture Association in London. The course was taught at the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum in London where we practiced different drawing techniques, each session in a different part of the museums. These explorations focused on light and shadow of figures and spaces. We were also able to access different parts of the museum, such as the museum archive and the clock collection, which are not open to the public.
