GIVE back

India has a special place in my heart. I have been there so many times – and I love it all! When passing through customs they ask me politely; “please stay this time around!” with a smile on their lips and a glimpse in their eyes! – and that is rare!

India is a country where rich and poor live side by side. The poverty in India really crashes your perspective and belief in humanity – looking around, you see nothing but extremely poor people living in tents, on the streets, in cardboard boxes and even at the side of the freeway. It is horrendous! A critical cultural shock! This demands a great deal of processing before surrendering to my work relations and feeling okay within the environment of India. The essence of my experience is; wherever I go, I find that poor people are capable of love, family care, celebrating and contributing greatly, disregarding their everyday struggle for surviving life! That warms my heart – giving and receiving love and happiness has nothing to do with social status or wealth!

It’s so amazing to see their happy faces, kids running around, playing with one another, despite poor living conditions and lack of toys and playgrounds! At Izabel Camille, we are grateful that customers choose to dazzle themselves with our jewelry. We believe it is important to give back. Right now, we employ many Indians and provide them with an income through our factories.

However, it is also important to get the kids off the streets. The orphanages help! They create a safe everyday life, with schools, regular routines surrounded with lovely caregivers. At Izabel Camille we have decided to provide the orphanages with money and clothes that we collect in Denmark through our “help to help” projects. The money we give to the orphanages is used for food, clothing, blankets, minor repairs as well as for schooling at the orphanage.

Many of our followers on Instagram and Facebook have already sent us clothes and toys that I have passed on and for that we are grateful! Thank you!

Although the children in India are in strong need of help, we also support the Danish children in need. Our Danish charity project has already donated many gifts for Christmas this year. A heartfelt project that will continue and expand throughout 2020.
