Vintage bikes on display The Vintage Motorcycle Club held their Scurry in Newport’s St Thomas Square on Saturday (September 22) and what a beautiful display they put on. This was part of a 4 day event on the Isle of Wight. The club was formed in the late 1940s and has over 15,000 members worldwide who get together for scurries and go out on day trip adventures

A permanent archive and exhibition site is being built next to Price’s Garage on Pan Lane, Newport. Barry Price, from an old Island family and owner of Prices garage, is building the space to exhibit his photos from over the years on the Island. Known as “Old Man Price” to his friends and neighbours, the grandfather was born on the Island to a big family and now boasts a brood of 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr Price’s grandfather, Bill Price, had over 100 grandchildren. The 79-year-old has a collection of classic cars, still works full time and announced his plans at a one day event in Newport’s Conservative Club on Saturday (September 22). The event was well attended and organised by former Island MP Andrew Turner. He plans to showcase his family archives at the Pan Lane site in the near future. Regent Street, Shanklin

and excursions. The members stayed at Orchards Holiday Park in Newbridge. Roger Tweedy, a member who was present at the Isle of Wight Scurry explained the club has 50 members on the Island and the event saw a great showing of vintage and classic bikes as well as classics from the mid 1930s.
