This item contains four submenu items, Icon,Name, Date and Size. This is a new and powerful addition to Workbench 2.0. Workbench 1.3 could only show icons in windows. Workbench 2.0 allows you to show icons as well as filenames in your windows. •
Open the Workbench diskette window by double clicking on it.

Enlarge the size of the Workbench diskette window as much as possible using the sizing gadget.

Select the Name submenu item from the view
by item in the
Windows menu.
The display changes and the files are displayed by name. Additional information is displayed concerning the size or type of file, the file attributes and the creation date of the file. Experiment selecting various options of the view by menu item. Select the All Files submenu item from the Show item and notice how disordered the display becomes when all the files are displayed by name.
The various file display methods can be quite useful since files may be displayed by name, date and size. The ability to display all files on the Workbench screen is also a new addition to Workbench 2.0. Workbench 1.3 could only display all the files on a diskette from the CLI.
The icon display will be the one you use most with your Amiga, so
when you are finished experimenting with the various displays return to the normal icon display.

Select the Only
Icons submenu item from the Show item in
the Windows menu.

Select the Icon submenu item from the view by item in the Windows menu.
Icons The Icons menu contains all functions relating to icons. You must select an icon on the screen before using an item in the Icons menu.
Open
Opens the selected icons. This is the same as using the mouse to double click on the icon. •
Select the icon you want to open.
