2. The Workbench Diskette

Drawer
This is a new Workbench item. It creates an Empty drawer in the current diskette window. Workbench 1.3 required you to have an Empty drawer file on each diskette. You had to copy this Empty drawer file each time to create a new drawer. To open a new drawer
•
Open the RAM Disk icon by double clicking on it.

Select New drawer from the Windows menu.
A new drawer name Unnamed is created on the active diskette. If you choose New drawer again the next drawer will be named Unnamed2. You can use the Delete item in the Icons menu to delete the drawer. Open
Parent
This option allows you to quickly locate the parent diskette of an opened drawer. This is extremely useful when drawers contain other drawers or you are working with multiple diskettes.

Open the Utilities drawer on the Workbench diskette by
double clicking on it
Close the Workbench diskette by clicking on the close gadget. Activate the Utilities window by clicking the mouse pointer inside it.

Select Open parent from the Windows menu.
The Workbench diskette opens as the parent directory in this case. It's also possible for the parent to be a drawer when drawers contain other
drawers.
Close
Closes the current window. This is the same as clicking on the close
Upda t e
Updates the display of the active window from disk. Although Update is similar to Update All, it only updates the active window.
Select
gadget in the upper left corner of a window.
Contents
Selects the entire contents of an active window for easy file copying
and deletion.

Double-click the Workbench diskette icon.
Select Select Contents from the Windows menu.
Now the entire contents in the active window is selected.
