I am a third-year architecture student at Carnegie Mellon University and I am thrilled to be able to find an internship application for WHY Architecture. As a passionate architecture student and person, I strive to bring a level of enthusiasm and positivity through my skill sets and ability to collaborate. I would cherish the opportunity to contribute my skill sets on critical thinking, visual representation, researching and more to the team in WHY Architecture. Over the course of my education, I have learnt how to proficiently use CAD programs such as Rhino, with working knowledge for Sketchup, Revit, AutoCAD, as well as parametric and analytical tools such as climate studio and grasshopper. In addition, working as a teaching assistant for more than 4 core courses in the School of Architecture, I have proficient skills in listening, offering feedback, and guiding others which I find imperative in a working environment. Growing up in Macau, a small city near Hong Kong which was under Portuguese colonial rule for centuries, I am amazed by the city’s rich culture and its effort in acknowledging different cultures while situating themselves in harmony, an example would be a small plaza that sells cheung fun on one end and pastel de nata on the other, sandwiched by a catholic and a chinese temple. Through my architectural endeavors, I hope to partake in architecture that contextually speaks to surrounding environments and cultures while addressing issues such as sustainability and green architecture. I strongly believe that WHY Architecture’s vision aligns with my interests and it would be an unique opportunity for me to grow as an architect.
