Congratulation to Miss Anna Evans who was recently the recipient of a UMAP scholarship 2014 from the Ministry of Education, Thailand. Anna is a second-year student at BUUIC, majoring in the Human Resources Development Program. At present, she is studying at Appalachian State University, in the USA for one semester (January – May 2014). Miss Anna has an excellent academic record, her GPA is 3.90. In addition she has received several academic awards for excellence at BUUIC and scored 7.5 on the IELTS test. Following encouragement from her family and BUUIC to apply for the scholarship, she has been rewarded with this great opportunity to study abroad.

Congratulation to Miss Salisa Kunem, a second year student majoring in Logistics Management who has been awarded a full ASEM Duo Scholarship 2014 from the Ministry of Education, Thailand. This scholarship requires a partner University in Europe. Miss Salisa is currently studying at Montpillier Business School in France for one semester (January – May 2014). At the same time Montpillier Business School has sent a student, Mr.Charles Tirollet, to study at BUUIC for one semester as well.

Global Business Leadership Camp 2014 in South Korea

During 2-14 January 2014, a group of 19 students led by Miss Passarin Phalitnonkiat and Mr. Parinya Nakpathom, instructors from BUUIC, visited the Republic of Korea in order to participate in the Global Business Leadership Camp 2014 at the College of Economic and Management at Chungnam National University (CNU). There were many activities related to cultural learning, for example, business classes in which students learned how Korean business has grown from the past to the present. In addition, there was a cooking class during which all students enjoyed making Korean food together. The group also traveled to other cities such as Seoul and Busan. Everyone was able to go to Muju Ski Resort which is about one hour from the university. Moreover, the Thai students performed for the Korean professors and students. They also cooked Thai food for the Koreans. Everyone enjoyed their stay in Korea.

Erusmus Mundus Scholarship Project 2014

On January 10, 2014, Professor Pierangelo Peri visited BUUIC and gave valuable suggestions and information for the students who are interested in applying for the Erusmus Mundus Scholarship Project 2014. He showed the students how to prepare an attractive application. In addition Prof. Pierangelo encouraged all students to apply for this scholarship because this is one of the best scholarships from the European Union.

BUUIC Open House for Piboonbumpen Demonstration School, Burapha University

On January 14, 2014, BUUIC welcomed teachers and students from the 12th grade at Piboonbumpen Demonstration School, Burapha University to participate in a BUUIC Open House. During their visit they all had an opportunity to look around the college and sit in some academic classes.

Special Lecture, Workshop and Research Collaboration by Visiting Professsor, IMUS INSTITUTE, Philippines

Between 18th - 27th January 2014, Dr. Karen Fernandez, Head of Hotel/ Restaurant & Tourism Management from IMUS INSTITUTE, Philippines visited BUUIC as a Visiting Professor for a special lecture and workshop for BUUIC students in the International Tourism and Hotel Management Program. The three main topics of the special lecture and workshop were: (1.) Hotel Business Planning and Development: The linkages between the Hotel Industry and ASEAN 2015 (2.) Managing Organizations and Human Resources in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry for AEC 2015 (3.) The Importance of Customer Service in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. In addition to enhancing our academic program in tourism and hotel studies, Dr. Fernandez’s visit also involved some research collaboration. There will be three joint-research papers producing involving Dr. Fernandez, IMUS INSTITUTE, Philippines and Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Mrs.Sirintorn Thepmongkorn and Dr.Kumutinee Worasuwan, the administrative team of Burapha University International College (BUUIC), Thailand.

Welcome Exchange Students for Spring Semester 2014

Assoc. Prof. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College, Ms. Sirintorn Thepmongkorn, the Associate Dean for Global Affairs, and other BUUIC faculty members were pleased to welcome 9 exchange students on the 20th of January 2014, . They were: five students from Brunei Darussaram, one student from Montpellier Business School, France, one student from Appalachian State University, USA, and two students from Indonesia (UIB and Trisakti). Following an orientation they attended BUUIC for the Spring Semester 2014 which ran from January to May 2014. Upon their arrival all the students were presented with souvenirs by the Dean.

Global Business Leadership Camp 2014 in Thailand

During 23 January to 5 February 2014, Assoc. Prof. Rana Pongruengphant, Dena of BUUIC gave a warm welcome to Prof. Rho Joon Hwa, Beak Minji, together with 23 students from Chungnam National University, South Korea who were visiting BUUIC as part of the Global Business Leadersip Camp 2014. During their two week visit the visitors were involved in many activities and new experiences in Thailand. The Korean instructors and students went to Pattaya and Koh Lan where they enjoyed swimming at the nice beach. They also visited many places such as Nong Nuch tropical garden which is one of the most beautiful gardens in Thailand. They bought a lot of souvenirs at the Floating Market Pattaya as well. They also went to the zoo. The Korean students learned a lot about Thai culture by attending many classes by Thai instructors. On the last day, the Korean students performed at a farewell dinner which was attended by Thai instructors and students too.

BUUIC English Camp, Volunteering and Charity Project, Academic Year 2013

On January 29th, 2014, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of BUUIC, led a group comprised of selected Associate Deans and BUUIC faculty members along with students from BUUIC, the Faculty of Sports Science, and the Faculty of Public Health on a one day field trip to Baan Nong Yai School, Sanamchaiked District, Chacheng-Sao Province. The main purpose of the visit was to donate some much needed learning materials to the school. There are currently about 170 students aged 4 to 11 enrolled at the school who will benefit from this welcome addition to their educational facilities. This charitable effort was made possible through donations provided by BUUIC, the Faculty of Sport Science, the Faculty of Public Health, the Burapha University Central Library, and CU Book Center at Burapha University which included money, teaching aids, books, stationary, sports equipment, clothes, toys, and snacks. In addition students from BUUIC’s Student Club, BUUIC exchange students, senior students majoring in Communication Skills for HRD and students from the Faculty of Sport Science, also the Faculty of Public Health led a variety of activities for the Baan Nong Yai students. Some of these activities focused on English while others emphasized hygiene and physical education.

On January 30, 2014, Mr.Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Chairperson, International Tourism and Hotel Management Program, Ms.Pekanang Yodmanee, a full-time instructor, Mr.Kitja Lairayapong, a student affairs staff member together with Mr.Phanupong Homsilp and Ms.Naviya Yuwawithaya, student representatives, made a public relations visit to Saint John Mary International School in Saraburi. During their visit they provided information regarding BUUIC’s academic programs and presented guidelines for those high school students wishing to further their studies at BUUIC.

Three BUUIC Students Awarded Japanese Scholarship for 2014

BUUIC was very grateful on behalf of three of its students who received a Japanese Government Scholarship to study under an exchange program at Nishikyushu University Junior College between 1st February – 14th March, 2014. The students received a grant of 160,000 JPY per person. They were: 1. Ms. Natthanate Areeratroongsri 3rd year student majoring in International Business Management GPA.3.76 2. Ms. Napawan Boonkran 3rd year student majoring in International Business Management GPA 3.12 3. Mr. Kittiphot Chatchaikulsiri 3rd year student majoring in International Business Management GPA 3.45

The Election for New President of BUUIC Students’ Club, Academic Year 2014

On February 4th, 2014, BUUIC students elected a new president of the BUUIC Students’ Club for Academic year 2014. More than 70% of BUUIC students voted. This event is organized every academic year by the BUUIC Students’ Club. One of the objectives is to strengthen the idea of democracy in the students' minds.

Bureau of Tourism Business and Guide Registration

Mr. Parinya Nakpathom and Miss Krita-Orn Chewwasung, BUUIC instructors from the International Tourism Management program and 1st - 3rd year tourism students visited some famous tourist destinations in the north of Thailand between February 5-9, 2014. The objective of this trip was to study historical, cultural, architectural aspects of Thailand as well as provide an opportunity for the students to practice in the role of conducting a tour. Moreover, the students gained entertainment and service skills during the trip. Furthermore, this program was followed by the Bureau of Tourism Business and Guide Registration, Department of Thailand, Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

Double degree 2+2 program involving Appalachian State and BUUIC

Dr.Jesse L.Lutabingwa, Associate Vice Chancellor for International Development, Appalachian State University, visited BUUIC between February 6-8, 2014 in order to follow up on the double degree 2+2 program involving Appalachian State and BUUIC. There are presently six BUUIC students who are participating in this program. One student, Miss Tanyalak Kanwiboon, majoring in Management, who will be part of the first batch of this program, has fulfilled all course requirements and will start her studies at Appalachian State this coming Fall 2014. The other 5 students who are majoring in Logistics Management (2), International Business Management (2), and Business Information System (1), are planning to go to Appalachian State in June 2015. Dr. Lutabingwa was also greeted by Mr. Michael Evans, the father of Miss Anna Evans, a BUUIC student who has been awarded a UMAP scholarship 2014 to go study at Appalachian State University. Miss Anna is majoring in Human Resource Development program. She is currently studying at Appalachian State University until May 2014.

Open House for Visitors

On February 10, 2014 BUUIC welcomed a group of teachers and students from Satit Udomsueksa Pattaya, Chonburi. During the “Open House” the students visited classrooms, laboratories and other facilities in the college. Students attended lectures presented in English as well as participated in the hotel and the food and beverage labs at BUUIC.

Representative from IMI University Centre Visits BUUIC

On February 11, 2014, Associate Professor Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College, and Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Chairperson of International Tourism & Hotel Management Program welcomed Mr. Laurent Juliet, Representative from IMI University Centre in Luzern, Switzerland. The purpose of the visit was to introduce the joint degrees program for BUUIC Students in International Tourism and Hotel Management Program. Interested students can apply for the program which involves studying at BUUIC for 3 years and then doing the final year of study at IMI, Switzerland.

Faculty of Economics, Kasetsart University Visits BUUIC

On 12th February 2014, Associate Professor Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College, and Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs welcomed Administrative Team and Faculty Members from the Faculty of Economics, Kasetsart University. The purpose of the visit was to learn about BUUIC’s Internationalization.

Visitor from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), USA

On Febuary 13, 2014 Assoc. Prof. Rana Pongruenphant, Dean of the International College at Burapha University, along with her administrative team, warmly welcomed Prof. Dteven Harvey, the International Admissions Director and Mr. Koranan Nawarat, an SNHU alumni, from Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), USA to BUUIC. The primary purpose of this visit was to discuss future academic collaboration involving: - Double Degree Program - Exchange program for students and faculty members - Joint projects and research activities - Collaboration and participation in seminar and academic meetings - Short training programs between the two universities

BUUIC Logistics Management Students Field Trip to Thai/Cambodian Border

To prepare BUUIC logistics management students for the ASEAN community in 2015 and beyond Dr. Hermann went with two buses of Chinese, French, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese BUUIC logistics students on a college field trip/ excursion to the Thai/Cambodian border in Aranyaprathet/Poipet. The learning objective of this trip was to study the import/export procedures at the Sakeo Thai/Cambodian border crossing. Students received firsthand experience with the Royal Thai Immigration and Thai Customs processing pedestrian and vehicle traffic in and out of Cambodia. There is truly multi-modal transport at the border ranging from hand-carts, trucks of various sizes and nationalities, containers bound for the new construction of a railroad land bridge from Thailand into Cambodia linking Phnom Penh with Bangkok and the Port of Lam Chabang. The hustle and buzzle of the vibrant Ronklua border market was a further highlight of the trip which was well received by the BUUIC logistics students and offered a great bonding experience between students and faculty. It also was an opportunity for junior and senior BUUIC logistics students to mingle and even BUUIC alumni joined this professional/continuing education experience that served to create ever lasting memories as part of the BUUIC family. BUUIC combines high-tech in the form of e-learning and multi-media content with high-touch, hands-on personal experience (learning by doing). The BUUIC logistics management program offers interactive structured, problem solving classroom learning with hands-on, real-life experience through co-op opportunities and industry visits in order to provide linkage with industry and an insider’s view into industry best practices and networking opportunities for BUUIC logistics management students.

On the 27th of February, 2014 , Assoc. Prof. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of BUUIC and Ms. Sirintorn Thepmongkorn, Associate Dean for Global Affairs were pleased to welcome Mr. Xiao Dong, the International Relations Officer from Yunnan College of Management, China and a group of five students. The purpose of their visit was to learn more about the management style and learning environment at BUUIC as well as to explore opportunities for a student exchange program including a Thai study course.

Gather Together Tourism and Hotel, Academic Year 2013

On March 1st, 2014, Mr.Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Chairperson, International Tourism and Hotel Management Programme with Ms.Kritta-orn Chewwasung, a full-time instructor in the International Tourism and Hotel Management Programme, led a group of BUUIC students on a field study trip to Sampran Riverside in Nakorn Pathom Province. Sampran Riverside is an eco-cultural attraction comprised of a hotel, Thai houses, restaurants, a spa, a Thai village and an organic farm. There were also cultural and recreational tourism activities which included art and craft workshops & cultural shows. This was the first outing for those BUUIC students enrolled in the International Tourism and Hotel Management Programme.

ASEAN Exhibition, Academic Year 2013

On the 10th March 2014, BUUIC Students in International Tourism and Hotel Management Program provided information in the form of an exhibition on the subject of Cultural Diversity for Tourism and Hotel Management. They were supervised by Ms. Reizle Agcang Jiratthiti who served as their instructor and who had organized "ASEAN Exhibition, Academic Year 2013", held in the Dinning Hall at BUUIC. The main purpose of this event was to provide information regarding the upcoming initiation of ASEAN in 2015.

Welcome Visitors from the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of BUUIC and BUUIC faculty members welcomed representatives from the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam on March 12, 2014. The guests included Aizul Abdul Aziz, the first secretary; Nur Faizah Haji Mohamad Aus; the second secretary and Mariatul Zulfah Said, the third secretary. The purpose of their visit was to meet with those Bruneian exchange students who are studying at BUUIC.

Welcome Representatives from the Institute of International Education

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of BUUIC and BUUIC faculty members welcomed Mr. Sinchai Lekwanitchakul and Mr. Francis Chan, representatives from the Institute of International Education on March 12, 2014. The purpose of the visit was to discuss and collaborate on establishing BUUIC as a center for TOEFL testing in eastern Thailand. This will be useful not only for BUUIC students, but also for others who want to quantify their own proficiency in academic English.

BUUIC Capping Day and Byenior Party

On 13th March 2014, Dr. Kumutinee Worasuwan, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Mr.Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs in cooperation with the Student Club of BUUIC organized a “Capping Ceremony and Byenior Party” for recent graduates. On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of BUUIC and Professor Dr. Suchart Upatham, Dean's Consultant, presided over the ceremony. The capping ceremony was held in the afternoon and byenior party was held that night.

ASEAN Tourism and Hospitality Leadership Camp

Between March 19-25, 2014, Associate Professor Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College, Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Chairperson of the International Tourism & Hotel Management Program and other faculty members were pleased to welcome a group of students and instructors from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STP) Trisakti as part of a reciprocal program "ASEAN Tourism and Hospitality Leadership Camp". The program allowed Indonesian Students to gain social, economic and cultural experiences in Thailand as well as serving to promote closer educational collaboration between BUUIC, Thailand and STP Trisakti, Indonesia

Research Proceeding the 2nd IBEA International Conference on Business, Economics & Accounting in Hong Kong March 20-23, 2014

A group of BUUIC lecturers consisting of Dr. Kumutinee Worasuwan, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Students Affairs; Mrs. Sirintorn Thepmungkorn, Associate Dean for Global Affairs; Miss Thaksaorn Srisangkhajorn, Assistant Dean for Public Relations; and Miss Passarin Phalitnonkiet, a lecturer in the Marketing Department were selected to present their research papers at the 2nd International Conference on Business Economics and Accounting at Hong Kong. There were 78 selected papers from 11 countries covering a wide range of related topics. Miss Thaksaorn’ s research paper was awarded as the “Best Research Paper” for the conference. She was invited to be a session chair as well.

BUUIC Visits Partner Hotels Involved with Cooperative Education

Associate Professor Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of BUUIC, led a team on a visit to Le Meridian Koh Samui Resort & Spa and The Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, for the purpose of monitoring exchange students from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STP) Trisakti, Jakarta, Indonesia who were working there as part of BUUIC’s cooperative education program. The Dean was accompanied by Mr. Djanadi Bimo Prakoso, Chairman of Trisakti Foundation; Ms. Fetty Asmaniati, President of STP Trisakti; Mr. Chondro Suryono, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, STP Trisakti; Mr.Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Chairperson of International Tourism & Hotel Management Program, BUUIC; and Mr. Prasit Pongruengphant, a BUUIC Instructor. The other objective of this trip, which took place between the 22nd and 24th of March 2014, was to introduce those partner hotels in the cooperative education program: Le Meridian Koh Samui Resort & Spa, and The Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort.

Community-based Tourism

On 22-23 March, 2014, 2nd - 3rd year BUUIC tourism students visited Koh- Sichang District, Chonburi in order to study an example of Community-based Tourism. The trip was organized by Mr. Parinya Nakpathom, an instructor in International Tourism Management, BUUIC . The purpose of this trip was to study tourist destinations, local life styles, and basic infrastructures. Moreover, students had to inquire of local people, stakeholders, and leaders of the community and tourists of the benefits and effects of developing this community and provide feedback to the local government at, Koh- Sichang District, Chonburi. To improve academic standards and increase all faculty members’ knowledge about training of academic positions, BUUIC invited Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wimonrat Chaturanont, Dr. Montiern Chomdokmai and Dr. Apanchanit Jenjit to be special keynote speakers at a seminar.

Seminar with Brock University, Canada

On March 31, 2014, Dean Rana Pongruenphant and selected BUUIC faculty members attended a seminar presented by Professor Kim Meade, Vice- Provost and Associate Vice President Student Services from Brock University, Canada. The seminar focused on sharing experiences and a discussion of international collaboration, international research opportunities, admission criteria, exchange of professors and students programs, and service components.

AJINOMOTO Field Trip

Dr. Hermann and Aj. Siwaporn Kunnapapdeelert went with BUUIC second and third year logistics students on an industry visit to the Ajinomoto factory in Ayutthaya province. Ajinomoto operates in 26 countries, employing over 27,500 people with yearly revenue of US$ 12 billion. Ajinomoto’s main product, monosodium glutamate (MSG) seasoning, was first marketed in Japan in 1909, having been discovered and patented by Kikunae Ikeda who found that this most important compound within fermented seaweed broth for common use was actually a glutamate salt (MSG). Ajinomoto is also the world's largest producer of aspartame with a 40% global market share under the brand name NutraSweet. In Thailand Ajinomoto markets various seasoning products as well as Birdy coffee. The future of the company is seen in amino acids applications in nutrition, medical and industrial products such as synthetic rubber. The BUUIC logistics students got an inside look at industry best practices in supply chain risk management (SCRM), operations management and bulk material handling of sugar cane molasses and taro root starch which Ajinomoto purchases locally and process in its factories throughout Thailand. The BUUIC students greatly enjoyed the company museum exhibits as well as a well-organized tour of the modern Japanese factory which opened its doors in Thailand only about one year ago. BUUIC looks forward to expanding its collaboration with Ajinomoto which presently offers Co-Op opportunities for students of all majors.

BUUIC Sport Day 2014

Assoc. Prof. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College, presided over the opening ceremony of the BUUIC Sport Day on April 2nd, 2014. The Sport Day, which was organized by the BUUIC student club, served many purposes. It encouraged BUUIC’s students to participate in some healthy activities as well as cultivating cooperation and harmony among the BUUIC community.

BUUIC Songkran Day 2014

On April 3rd, 2014 the BUUIC Student Club hosted a "BUUIC Songkran Day 2014". Assoc. Prof. Dr.Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College together with faculty members and students participated in this event celebrating the traditional Thai New Year. The special ceremonies relating to Songkran promoted a sense of togetherness while displaying a unique aspect of Thailand’s cultural heritage.

BUUIC International Hotel Management Leadership Camp 2014, Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Ambarrukmo (STiPRAM), Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Chairperson, International Tourism and Hotel Management Program, led a group of six students majoring in International Hotel Management on a visit to Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Ambarrukmo (STiPRAM), Yogyakarta, Indonesia during 4th - 9th April 2014. Both instructor and students were participating in a cultural exchange program that included visits to tourism attractions and a hotel tour under the annual project "BUUIC International Hotel Management Leadership Camp 2014".

Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Chairperson, International Tourism and Hotel Management Program, led a group comprised of Mrs. Reizle Agcang Jiratthiti, a part-time faculty member in International Tourism and Hotel Management Program and six students majoring in International Hotel Management on a visit to Bali, Indonesia during 10th - 13th April 2014. Cultural and tourism attractions were visited together with hotel tours at INNA Hotel Group in BALI which comprised of two properties: INNA BALI HOTEL BUSINESS & MEETING (and) INNA GRAND BALI BEACH. The trip was part of the annual project "BUUIC International Hotel Management Leadership Camp 2014"

BUUIC Provides Academic Service on Cooperative Education Festival 2014

Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Coordinator for Cooperative Education was invited to be a guest speaker for Bangkok University International College’s (BUIC) Cooperative Education Festival 2014 which was held on 18th April 2014 at BUIC, City Campus. During the seminar for this event titled "Design Your Career for Your Future", Mr. Samart made a presentation entitled "Cooperative Education Management: A Case Study at Burapha University International College (BUUIC)". It featured BUUIC as a role model for cooperative education (Coop) for institutions of higher education. Coop would be beneficial when students are designing their future careers. Furthermore, their working skills and experience will prepare them for employment and career development in a real working environment. For this occasion, Ms. Cecilia Cindy Kristina, our exchange student from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STP) Trisakti, Jakarta, Indonesia also was invited to share her experience in a cooperative education program with BUUIC and a company in Thailand. Among the audience were the administrative team, lecturers, students and staff from BUIC.

Arts and Cultural Study Trip to Singapore for B.F.A. Program

Dr. Kumutinee Worasuwan, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Coordinator for Cooperative Education, led a team comprised of three instructors: Ms. Rasa Suntrayuth, Ms. Miyoung Seo, Mr. Chayanon Chootanon and 14 BUUIC students in the B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) Program on a recent study trip to Singapore between April 24-26, 2014. While in Singapore they visited Shelton College International for information regarding cooperative education in Singapore and they also visited the National Museum of Singapore, the Asian Civilization Museum, the Red Dot Design Museum and the Singapore Art Museum All instructors and students were participating in this Arts and Cultural Study Trip to Singapore as part of the annual project for B.F.A. Students.

International Cooperative Education

On 1st May 2014, Associate Professor Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College, and Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Chairperson of International Tourism & Hotel Management Program welcomed back three students who had gone to the Marriott Orchard Hotel, the Park Regis Hotel and the Wangz Hotel in Singapore as part of the cooperative education program between BUUIC, Thailand and Shelton College International, Singapore. On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of BUUIC presented certificates for the three students who successfully completed this program.

BUUIC Provides Academic Service for private company

During Spring semester 2013, Miss Passarin Phalinonkiat, a BUUIC Marketing instructor, together with ten 3rd year students in her marketing research class were asked by Pronsririsub Co.,Ltd. to assist the company in choosing some proper marketing communication tools to attract targeted customers. Pronsririsub Co.,Ltd. is a contruction company and has its own projects involving building commercial buildings, houses and so in the Sriracha area. The company told the students about its problems and what it needed. The students spent their semester identifying what outcomes the company desired and using the knowledge they had acquired in class, conducted research and provided a solution for the company.

Faculty Development on Quality Assurance for Teaching and Learning Evaluation

BUUIC held a workshop for all faculty members during 3-5 May 2014 at the Sampran Riverside (Rose Garden) in Nakorn Pathom. The guest speakers were Prof. Wuttichai Thanapongsathorn, a former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Srinakharinwirot University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wasin Inkapatanakul ,Vice President for Quality Assurance, Silpakorn University. The objectives were to improve internal quality assurance procedures and provide guidelines for determining if students have met learning outcome standards.

Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on TOEFL ITP

On May 6, 2014 Prof. Sompol Pongthai, President of Burapha University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College and Mr. Sinchai Lekwanichakul, a delegate from the Institute of International Education signed an MOU with TOEFL ITP to collaborate and to jointly establish a TOEFL Testing Center in eastern Thailand.

BUUIC Signed MOU with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Assoc. Prof. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College has proposed an agreement effective upon signing by Prof. Sompol Pongthai, President of Burapha University and Prof. Patricia Lynott, Provost, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA whereby both institutions agree to promote scholarly activities and international understanding. Students from BUUIC would be welcome to participate in a study abroad program for an academic year, semester, or term, at anytime. SNHU will provide scholarships up to $2,500 per semester, based on merit.

MOU Signing Ceremony with National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT)

Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Chairperson, International Tourism and Hotel Management Program visited National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) for the propose of attending a MOU signing ceremony which took place on the 14th of May 2014. Representing National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) were the President of NKUHT, Professor Dr. Jimmy C. Yung; Vice President for Academic Affairs/ Dean of School of Tourism & Director of Graduate Institute of Travel and Tourism Management, Professor Leo Huang; Dean of the School of Hospitality Management & Professor, Graduate Institute of Hospitality Management, Professor Dr. Pearl Lin; and the Dean of International Affairs Office, Associate Professor Dr. Wen-Tsung Chen. NKUHT is well recognized in the field of hospitality and tourism in Taiwan and considered to be one of the top ten Universities in Asia offering a curriculum in this field.

BUUIC attends 13th Asia Pacific Forum (APF 2014)

Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Chairperson, International Tourism and Hotel Management Program, recently participated in the 13th Asia Pacific Forum (APF 2014). The forum was held at National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) during 14th - 16th May 2014. Mr.Plangpramool presented a research paper titled "Practicum Training Through Internship and Cooperative Education of International Tourism and Hotel Management Students at Burapha University International College (BUUIC)". His presentation was successful with many research scholars recommending him to proceed with more research comparing and contrasting students' behaviour and attitudes prior to and after their cooperation education course. In addition some individuals from other universities expressed an interest in pursuing academic collaboration with BUUIC in the area of cooperative education.

BUUIC Represented at 13th Asia Pacific Forum On May 16, 2014, Mr. Samart Plangpramool, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Chairperson of International Tourism & Hotel Management Program received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his steadfast dedication and professionalism which contributed immeasurable to the "13th Asia Pacific Forum for Graduate Students Research in Tourism, 14th - 16th May 2014 at National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT)". On this occasion, Professor Dr. Jimmy E. Yung, President of NKUHT also invited Mr. Samart to speak briefly to delegates about BUUIC in general regarding its curriculum, instruction and activities during the closing ceremony of 13th Asia Pacific Forum.

Train the Trainer: Certification of Hotel Industry Analytics Workshop in Malaysia

To improve BUUIC’s academic standards, BUUIC recently set up a Teaching Materials Workshop for faculty members. The workshop, which was led by by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rana Pongruengphant, Dean of Burapha University International College, was held on May 27, 2014.

New Instructors Dr. Adisak Suvittawat is a full time lecture at Burapha University, International College (BUUIC). In his current position, Dr. Adisak teaches courses in Logistic related topics and focus on logistic management research topics. Dr. Adisak used to work with private companies more than 23 years which make him have more experiences on sales, marketing and supply chain management. Dr. Adisak received his Bsc. In Agriculture from KhonKaen University, his MPPM in Managmeent from National Institute of Development Administrative, MBA in Marketing from Ramkhamheng University and DBA from Asian Institute of Technology.

Addition, I completed training in Advanced English for Diplomacy [Thammasat University] and Advanced English for Communication [Kasetsart University]. January 2, 2014 I started teaching at BUUIC with warm community of Burapha University.

Ajarn Jesse (JJ) has been an instructor at BUUIC since May 2014. He has a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Washington, and a Master of Arts in English Literature and Language from Assumption University, Thailand. He has extensive teaching experience, having taught in Japan (Tokyo), in the American public school system (Seattle), as well as in Thailand. His educational position just prior to BUUIC was as a paraeducator working with children with disabilities, mainly autism, in Seattle. His interests include scuba diving, exercise, literature, travel, and learning the Thai language. Mr. Jesse Graham Sessoms

Ms.Siwaporn Kunnapapdeelert is a full time lecturer at Burapha University International College (BUUIC). Siwaporn held a Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering and Management from Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University. In her current position, she teaches courses related to logistics management and mathematics. Ms.Siwaporn has been teaching in the Department of Logistics Management, Faculty of Business Administration, Rangsit University for four years. Her research interests is in Modeling of Supply Chain and Logistics Systems.

Stephen Palmer received his M.A. in Education from Northern Arizona University with a concentration in educational technology and learning theory and has a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. He recently moved to Thailand after working many years at Portland State University where he was an instructor and managed the university’s online MBA program. He has 25 years’ experience in the I.T. industry in the both the private sector and as an I.T. manager for the U.S. Department of Defense at D.O.D.’s regional headquarters in Germany.

Mr.Stephen Palmer

Mr. Titiyoot Nuengchamnong is a full time lecturer in Burapha University International College where he has been a faculty member since January 2014. Currently, Mr. Titiyoot is teaching courses including independent study and introduction to business research. His research interest lies in the area of consumer behavior, in particularly in green consumer era. Mr. Titiyoot obtained his Master Degree in International Marketing with a merit and Diploma in Management Studies at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom where he has gained a highly rewarding experience which he describes as life-changing. Indeed, the experiences and skills that he has developed from the UK have helped him mature both personally and academically.

Before joining BUUIC, Mr. Titiyoot used to work as a full time lecturer in International College Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University and he also has experienced of working as a market researcher at Market Support, Co, Ltd. where he has obtained strong research skills in both quantitative and qualitative. In his ever-vanishing spare time, Mr. Titiyoot enjoys reading books, travelling to the other countries.

It is the start of our 2014 spring semester here at BUUIC. As Dean, I am grateful to be part of this growing international academic community. This year BUUIC proudly celebrates its 11th anniversary. There are currently 1,012 students enrolled in our college along with 33 faculty members and 15 administrative staff. The ongoing construction of our International House is progressing rapidly. Upon completion it will accommodate about 600 female students and 400 male students in separate buildings. Assoc. Prof. Rana Pongruengphant, Ph.D. We are looking forward to seeing the Dean, International College, International House become operational Burapha University sometime around March 2015. We will be especially delighted to warmly welcome all the newcomers who have been accepted into our college and who will be starting their university education at BUUIC in June 2014. Please know that all of us at BUUIC are dedicated to preparing our students for success in a continuously changing global environment. Finally, I would like to thank all of the teachers, administrators and students for your respective contribution in making BUUIC such a vibrant international community.
