The table tennis tournament of the Reykjavik International Games started in 2011. It is a great honour for Table Tennis Club Vikingur to organize an exciting tournament and to have the opportunity to do its best to make the table tennis tournament of the Reykjavik International Games unforgettable. The table tennis tournament will take place in TBR Sports Hall, Gnoðarvogur 1, 104 Reykjavik and Icelandic national players will attend as well as players from abroad. The tournament will be for Men’s and Women’s Singles. First the players will play in groups and then there will be semi-finals and finals. We are hoping that spectators will find the table tennis tournament exciting and our guests will enjoy visiting Iceland.
Borðtennis TBR 26. jan. kl. 12-16
Borðtennis varð keppnisgrein á Alþjóðlegu Reykjavíkurleikunum árið 2011 og Borðtennisdeild Víkings er umsjónaraðili keppninnar. Reykjavíkurleikarnir eru spennandi verkefni og Víkingur mun gera sitt besta til að mótið verði ógleymanlegt þeim sem taka þátt. Keppni í borðtennis fer fram í TBR-Íþróttahúsinu Gnoðarvogi 1. Besta borðtennisfólk landsins mætir til leiks og von er á erlendum keppendum. Keppt verður í einliðaleik karla og kvenna og er leikjafyrirkomulagið þannig að keppt verður í riðlum, síðan koma undanúrslitaleikir og á eftir fylgja úrslitaleikir í karla- og kvennaflokki. Von er á spennandi og skemmtilegri keppni í borðtennis og eru áhorfendur hvattir til að mæta og fylgjast með. Borðtennis varð til í Bretlandi á 19. öld og var leikið af bresku yfirstéttinni. Upphaflega var netið röð af bókum sem stillt var upp á miðju borðinu, boltinn efri hlutinn af kampavínstappa og spaðarnir lok af vindlakössum. Table tennis originated as a sport in Britain in the 19th century, where it was played among the upper-class. A row of books were stood up along the center of the table as a net, the paddles were made of cigar box lids and the balls of champagne corks.
