Carlena was born in Vancouver, BC Canada. Despite various hardships growing up, she discovered dance at the age of 9, and from there was able to fuel her challenges through a positive artistic outlet, making sense of all she never understood. She fell in love with hip hop dance and its culture, performing in dance crews and competitions all throughout her high school years. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles for 3 months to train and network with others in the industry. From the second she landed, she knew that was where she wanted to live for the rest of her life. Two years ago, she made that dream a reality. Carlena’s professional career started with a lead dance role in the Disney movie “Camp Rock 2” and from there expanded as she landed a spot on “So You Think You Can Dance,” inspiring others through her touching story and her journey on the show. The lives she was able to enlighten and the exposure she received help jumpstart a positive career for the talented young lady, opening many doors. Shortly thereafter, Carlena landed her first lead acting role, starring alongside Keke Palmer in the Nickelodeon film “Rags.” Carlena has danced for artists such as Prince, Usher, Pharrell, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Jason Derulo and Michael Buble to name a few. Most recently, she finished a two year world tour with Justin Bieber and starred in the feature film about their tour journey, “Believe.” Dance was just the beginning; but was a very promising one. With such a passion and love for the camera, Carlena’s doors have opened even further into choreography and modelling; a world where she’s been able to express her story through captured expression and character, combining the beauty and strength of all she’s experienced. She continues to reside in Los Angeles where she wakes up every morning with the inspiration to share her story through each avenue that comes her way.
