Park & Rec News Mecklenburg County’s Sportsplex at Matthews Now Open! The Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews opened September 30, 2013! Phase I of the complex includes five multi-use, lighted synthetic turf fields now available for use. Upon completion of Phase II, the facility will have 12 multi-use fields capable of holding a variety of events such as soccer, lacrosse, football and rugby. The focus of this facility is to host a wide variety of weekend tournaments as well as weekday practices and league play for local teams and organizations. Events that will be happening in the upcoming months include: November 8-10: FCCA Carolina Shootout - Soccer Tournament November 16 -17: Charlotte United Under Armour Cup - Soccer Tournament November 23-24: Nike Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp January 3-5: Overtime Lacrosse Tournament January 18-19: Carolina 150 Winter Showcase – Lacrosse Tournament February 1-2: CSA Adidas Cup – Soccer Tournament February 8-9: CSA Adidas Cup (cont’d) – Soccer Tournament March 8-9: NCYRU Spring Ruggerfest – Rugby Tournament For more information on the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews as well as reservation policies please visit Mecklenburg County Sportsplex.
