YMCA Camp Combe Master Plan SUNY Delhi Spring 2012
Existing Site Conditions
YMCA Camp Combe is a summer day camp in Putnam NY. They are currently looking at a new property located right next to them to help expand the camp. I decided for my senior thesis to make a master plan for the new property and with that new plan design some facades of the some of the buildings to give a general feel for what the camp would look like. Working closely with the executive director and director of the camp I created a master plan that would fit the camp in the best way I thought possible. Main Lod Lodge
6
The Main Lodge at a camp is on of the most important buildings. Its the place where you eat, have activities, hide from rain, and just sit around and talk. So the main challenge in designing the Lodge was adaptability. By creating a partly open floor plan, the building is able to change and adapt to any use it is needed for. For the style of the Main Lodge, I went with a modern adirondack style. Trying to keep the feeling of being in the woods but having modern amenities, like large window sets, helps tie the building into the surrounds nearby

The 5 Specialty Cabins are to provide indoor, covered space for the different areas of camp. These cabins will be a basic design interior design ,to accommodate the building for whatever the use might be. An open floor plan will also help the building adapt and change into whatever it might need to be. A double deck design, and large windows will allow the people inside to feel apart of the camp by not limiting there views and interaction with the other camp programs.
Entry Pavilion Ent P ili The first thing any parent is going to see when entering the camp is the rides in/ rides out space. This is one of the most complicated procedures for the camp. Moving kids from huddles to their car or bus. With this layout of pavilions and walkways kids should always be able to see their car. Dude to the sheer size of the camp the loading and unloading zone is elongated to about 200+ feet. Also being only 4 car widths wide, provides easier loading and reduces the pedestrian, vehicle crossing zones.

Albany Natatorium SUNY Delhi Fall 2011
Front Exterior Perspective
The Main goal in this project was to design a community building near the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany, NY. Located near the armory is two parking lots. So for my project I decided to look at what Albany doesn’t have. After looking all around I come to the conclusion that Albany has everything Except a Natatorium. So when I designed this project, it was all about involving the community. By having a Natatorium I could involve the local community with some retail space, a lecture hall, and concession stands.

Delhi Community Center SUNY Delhi Spring 11 The Delhi Community Center was a group project in which the group had to design a space for the Delhi Community. The main focus I had in the community center was the Bowling Ally and Bar building. Designed to resemble a rehabbed factory building, and blend into the semi french look of the town.

Solar Building SUNY Delhi Spring 11 The design of this office building was to completely use the sun in the most effective way possible. The shape of the building is directly connected to the different angles of the sun. For winter the building allows more light to enter into the building. The low angle of the sun helps sunlight get into the building. First Floor rendering For summer the high angle of the sun reflects off the upper portions of the building helping to keep it cooler. Bridge Model SUNY Delhi Fall 10 For a structural theory class, we had to design a replacement bridge for the SUNY Delhi golf course. The new bridge had to accommodate a golf cart and people walking across it to get over the stream. Also the bridge had to be made so it can withstand floods that occasionally happen to the golf course. Since I decided to make a wood bridge, it would be possible for the construction management kids at Delhi to make the bridge for the school. The Bridge is a simple arched design with tension rods connected to the deck to support the deck.
24
Subtracted Space SUNY Delhi Spring 09 In Architectural fundamentals we had to create space by staring with a cube and just subtracting space. For my model I decided to have 3 levels of spaces. The bottom space was more of a individual space. The middle was suppose to be a gathering/community space. And finally the top was suppose to be more of a private public space. By creating a model of the project it really helped show how all the spaces worked.

The YMCA Camp Combe’s Main Office is in desperate need of a new office building. As part of the Master Plan work on the current property, A new office building is a key part of the Camp. With that in mind, I camp up with a set design and location, and kept developing it through meetings with the Facility Comity and the directors. As it stands the building is still going through phases.

Changing Room Conceptual Design YMCA Camp Combe, Facility Development Intern
50' - 0"
One of the main parts of the YMCA Camp Combe is the Main Pool which services about 500 kids per day. The key to having every kid swim is fast changing times. The current changing rooms are not meeting the needs of the pool. A new changing room building will provide about double the change space as the current changing rooms. The new building will also have room for Aquatics office, First Aid, and Pool Storage. The unique design of having a part open roof helps the changing rooms stay dry, but the surround roofs have to help hid the kids changing, since the building is lower then the main parking lot.

Maintenance Building Conceptual Design
FIRST FLOOR PLAN
For the design I attempted to try and keep and older look. The Barn look is a great way to get a lot of room in 2 floors and keep a building looking older. With a simple 2 car garage space with work area downstairs. I was able to place upstairs and office and a lot of storage space.

A key part to any facility to run functionally is a Maintenance building. Currently the Camp does not have a maintenance building.

Tree House Conceptual Design YMCA Camp Combe, Facility Development Intern In Honer of a staff member who tragically lost her life during a summer, Camp Combe raised money and built a tree house in memory of her. The plans of the Tree House was drawn by and architect that happily volunteered her time to the design of it. My part was to take the 2D CAD plans and make 3D renderings of it to help raise money for the construction of the tree house. I also worked with the architect to redesign the stairs to the current design. During the construction I was one of four people to build the structure.
