Join in the fun, make . new friends and learn new skills, The programme is packed with activities and opportunities that cover everything from radio, theatre and music video production to animation and graffiti art. Kick start your career as a DJ, make your first virtual reality game, or learn to cook like a MasterChef.

All activities are free. We recommend that you book as soon as possible. Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis for young people aged 13+ who live or go to school in Islington. All activities are suitable for complete beginners and no previous experience is required. All our Summerversity venues are fully accessible. Build a Game in a Week

Join us on Saturday evenings for films, games and other entertainment. And some delicious food! A great chance to make new friends and meet the youth hub teams. When: 21 July, 11 August, 18 August, 6-9pm;

Have you ever wondered how great games like Fortnight and GTA are created? Learn how to create your own video game and bring it to life using the latest software and virtual reality. You will have the opportunity to present your ideas to a panel of industry and creative professionals for feedback and prizes.

Canoeing, Mountain Biking and Paddleboarding

Paint Platform Explore new skills, unlock your creativity, and gain an insight into the creative industries. Poetry for Performance

Boxing

Say it like you mean it! Create new poetry about identity for performance with spoken word legends Joelle Taylor and Travis Alabanza. You will have the opportunity to showcase your work at the Go Islington festival. All are welcome to come along. Activities will also explore LGBTQIA+ identities and themes.

Take part in a variety of fun boxing workouts including skipping, shadow boxing, basic punch combinations, heavy bag workout, focus mitts, slipping and rolling, abs and core work, and partner drills in a safe environment. Opportunity to work towards a Non-Contact Bronze Award in Boxing.

First Aid for Heroes

Football (mixed sessions)

Be a hero, know first aid. This course will teach you how to keep your cool in an emergency and take the right action at the right time. You will find out how to deal with minor slips, trips, bumps and scrapes, to promote recovery and get back in the game.

Graffical with Breakin’ Convention

Football - for Young People with a Disability

Work with professional rappers and graffiti artists exploring hip-hop rhymes. Write your own lyrics and bring them to life through graffiti art. You will have a one-off opportunity to exhibit your work at Sadler’s Wells Theatre at the end.

Museum of London Archaeology Heritage Project

Young MasterChefs

Interested in heritage, archaeology and community? Join this course to learn how to produce an e-zine that tells the story of Islington for local young people. Develop skills in research, photography, drawing, journalism and archaeological investigation. Participants will receive a Bronze Arts Award. Where: Museum of London Archaeology

Like cooking? Want to have fun and be taught by a professional chef? Then this course is for you! Learn how to make delicious food that will impress your friends and family. The course will end with a MasterChef style cook-off where you’ll work in teams to produce your own meal which will be judged by your fellow cooks. Carnival Cooking

A week of competitive opportunities focussed around skills development with competitions at the end of the course. You will have a chance to progress onto a Junior Football Leaders Award.

Food is the essence of Carnival and we are celebrating the smells and tastes of the Caribbean. Curried goat, jerk chicken and pork, rice and peas, patties, fried dumplings, ackee and salt fish, fried plantain and roasted sweetcorn will all be on the menu of delicious meals we will make.

A Taste of Urban Farm Business
