Welcome back members! The first meeting to kick off the 20172018 season is on Sunday, November 26th. I am proud to announce that we will be hosting a members only party in the Clubhouse on January 14th. Details will follow as soon as we firm up the complete itinerary. At our February 25th meeting we will be electing two new officers to serve on the Tennis Association Board. For the upcoming tennis season, each Tara Woods tennis team is being supplied one case of new tennis balls to kick off their league play. This was possible due to the fundraiser held last March-so, the Board’s gratitude to all of you for helping and attending. Oh! I almost forgot. The January 14th party is a “no cost” event
due to our collective efforts at the March fundraiser. Please put it on your January calendar and plan on attending. It should be a lot of fun and a nice way to reconnect after a wild Summer. Hugs. – Dakota Windancer ROUND ROBIN Some of this information was already published in the October Columns, but for those of you who were not here to receive the Columns, I am repeating some things. Our first Round Robin of the season is set for Sunday, November 26th. Janice & George Johnston have volunteered to host the dinner, which will consist of Pizza, Caesar Salad, and Ice Cream Sundaes. Fred Puhlfuerst has vol-
unteered to handle the courtside refreshments. The sign-up sheet for the tennis portion of the Round Robin will be posted on the Tennis Bulletin Board in early November. Be sure to sign up to play tennis that day – the more people who sign up, the more variety of pairings we can arrange. There is no Round Robin scheduled in December. The dates for the remaining Round Robins are January 28th, February 25th, and March 25th. We still need volunteers to host the dinners and we also need people to handle the courtside snacks on these dates. – Linda Engel TENNIS LEAGUES WOMEN’S LEAGUE Practice has already started for those team members who are already in Tara Woods. Some of the
players are still in the transition of driving to Tara Woods from their Northern states. We have 6 ladies on each team this season, with 2 shared subs. The list of team members is posted on the Tennis Bulletin Board. Coincidentally, the Angels have 5 full-time Tara Woods residents and 1 part-time resident on their team while the Fusion has only 1 full-time resident and 5 part-time residents on their team. When all of the players are back in Tara Woods, practice will be in full swing. Both teams practice Tuesdays at 9:00 AM. – Linda Engel MEN’S LEAGUE White League-Stallions It is a new season and the former Red Team Stallions are now a level White Team. We have combined with the other Tara Woods White Team players (the Mustangs), and the two Team Captains have chosen their team members. Both teams will be playing on Tuesdays at 1:30 PM, which will require fans to choose which team to watch. We will all play our
best, so come out and show your support. – Fred Puhlfuerst White League-Mustangs Nothing to report. Blue League Since the last update in October, a few more players have arrived in Tara woods, and a few more are expected in November. The season officially starts on Thursday, November 2nd, and we are all looking forward to a winning year – and we pray that the rainy season is at last over and that the courts stay dry. – Bill Powers
