Samuel Morse (1791-1872) Morse was a remarkable scientist known for his invention of the telegraph. He also built the first camera in America. Morse believed in the existence of a Creator who created everything for a certain cause. He felt that the material world and the spiritual world work in harmony. Just four years before he died, Morse
wrote:
"The
nearer
approach to the end of my pilgrimage, the grandeur and sublimity of God's remedy for fallen man are more appreciated and the future is illumined with hope and joy."103
