Eid al-Fitr Eid al-Fitr is a day of joy as it’s a day of thanks to Allah. He offers us the opportunity to fast during one month with all the rewards associated with this act, so let’s take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy the day of Eid al-Fitr! Below are some of the Sunnahs of the Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wa salam) related to Eid which we should try and carry out:

Wake up early in the morning and offer salat al-Fajr Use Miswak or brush your teeth

Take a ghusl (bath) Dress up and put on your best clothes available Use perfume (for men) Eat a sweet food, preferably dates, before leaving for prayer Go to the prayer area by walking

Pay zakat al-Fitr before Salat al-Eid and be charitable during the

day

Go to prayer ground early and recite the following Takbir quitely: ‘Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ila Allah Wa Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa Lillahi Alhamd’

Offer Salat al-Eid in congregation in an open area. Use two separate routes to and from the prayer ground

Show happiness and congratulate your neighbours, usually by saying ‘Eid Mubarak’

Visit relatives, friends, acquaintances
