VOLUNTEERING VOLUNTEERING
Volunteers have always been a valued and integral part of the ISKCON-London community, giving their time, ability and dedication to a wide variety of services that support the temple. Due to the pandemic, the subsequent closure of the temple, and lockdown measures, various services have been put on hold and many volunteers have been patiently waiting the time they can resume their services again. Other services, such as book distribution (albeit mainly done virtually) and Food for Life, have continued with great determination. Devotional service is always ever fresh and expanding, and devotees have engaged in new service opportunities also, for example in areas such as online preaching and sangas. In the second half of the year, the temple reopened for darshan on Wednesdays, Sundays and festival days, which engaged a team of volunteers happy to come on a regular basis to assist. In October, pujaris were allowed to come in on Sundays to serve in the Deity department. The hope is that sometime in 2021, the temple will fully reopen and warmly welcome back the entire volunteering community who can resume their wonderful devotional services. In the meantime, the Volunteers Team have tried to extend support to volunteers and keep them spiritually inspired through regular communication.
