Back Personal project
International School of Estonia MYP Projects Outline
Overview: At ISE year 5 students complete a personal project which is a product of students’ own initiative and reflects their experience of the MYP. It provides an opportunity to produce a truly creative piece of work of student’s choice, to demonstrate the skills developed in approaches to learning and to show an understanding in areas of global context. Why? The Personal Project is a mandatory project in year 5 of the Middle Years Programme. It is an opportunity to explore a topic of interest, to demonstrate ATL skills, and to create something unique. Who? The student is responsible for the Personal Project. It is an investigation that a student does alone to show the skills of an independent learner. However, each student has an adult supervisor who will be available to offer advice and guidance. What? A student creates three items: ● The Process Journal The process journal is the record of students’ involvement and progress in the Personal Project process. It records ideas, planning, sources, meeting schedules and outcomes with the supervisor, useful information e.g. quotes, photographs, ideas – whatever is part of the project process should be kept in this document. 62
