OBITUARIES

Clarence LaBeau Clarence “Clancy” LaBeau, age 89, of Isanti, passed away Dec. 24, 2016, after a short stay at GracePointe Crossing Gables East. Clarence Ray LaBeau was born Dec. 4, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Clarence and Pearl (Counter) LaBeau. He grew up and attended school in Minneapolis. Clancy served his country in the U.S. Navy d during WWII and also in tthe U.S. Army during the K Korean Conflict. On Oct. 2, 1948, he married M Margarette Doble at Marg garette’s grandmother’s h home in Springvale. They m made their home in Fridlley where Clancy worked ffor the U.S. Postal Service ffor 35 years before retiring. C Clancy was a charter memb ber of Shaddrick LaBeau American Legion Post 303 in Fridley. In 1962 their family moved to Isanti where they have lived since then. After retiring from the postal service in 1985, Clancy started working at the Isanti 76/BP station. He enjoyed working there and visiting with the customers and staff up until last year. He was a very active member of the Isanti County Sportsman Club for over 30 years. He taught gun safety training to hundreds of kids over the years. Clancy loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed sharing his produce and his maple syrup with friends and family. Clancy was a special man and will be dearly missed. Clancy is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Margarette; five children Vicky Wills, Becky LaBeau, Clarence (Gwen) LaBeau Jr., Randy (Sue) LaBeau, and Melody LaBeau; nine grandchildren Craig, Corey, Benjamin, Clinton, Travis, Colter, Randi, Logan and Raelynn; five great-grandchildren Jackie, Charlie, Jacob, Eva and Jenika; and by many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Preston LaBeau; four brothers Gordon “Bud” LaBeau, Kenneth LaBeau, Donald LaBeau and Ronald LaBeau; three sisters Audrey Budde, Ardis Dinsmore and Joyce Sitz; and special brotherin-law Howard Doble. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel. Viewing will only be at the visitation Friday night. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at New Hope Community Church – Isanti Campus, 114 N. Dahlin Ave, Isanti. Online condolences can be made at StrikeFuneral.com.

Angela Pankan Angela (Durand) Pankan, age 46, of Isanti, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 13, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Ron, children Joseph Durand, Austin Pankan, grandfather Doug Youngmark, father Joe (Sue) Camarillo, siblings Lonnie (Lynn) Durand, Julie (Randy) Weege, J Jolene (Damian) Cady, C Christina (Jeff) Schmidt, K Kari Camarillo, close cousiin Tina (Andy) Kilpatrick, a and many other relatives a and friends. Her whimsical disposittion to make others laugh, h her dazzling smile and wittty laughter will always be rremembered. Angie will be g greatly missed! Angie’s Celebration of Life will be on Jan. 7, 2017, at Spirit River Community, 1321 Heritage Blvd. NE, Isanti, MN 55040. Services will be at 11 a.m. As a request from Angie, please send any condolences in the form of a stuffed animal in lieu of any floral arrangements. All stuffed animals will be at the attendance of her Celebration of Life, then in remembrance of her, delivered to the Isanti County Sheriff ’s Department where they will be distributed to abused/neglected children. Our memories of Angie will continue with hopes that there will someday be a cure for all. Angie donated her body to research for this sole purpose! Thank you, Angie. Harper Ann Kowalsky

Koltyn James Kafer Koltyn was born on Dec. 23, 2016, and weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces. Parents are Tiffany and Brent Kafer of Harris. Koltyn is welcomed home by siblings Brennan, Mikayla, Savannah and Linkon. Grandparents are Doug and Kim Lauseng of Cambridge; Patti Jentsch of Ogilvie. Great-grandparents are Florence Lauseng of Isanti; Peggy Robarge of Mora.

Jordan Samuel Peabody Jordan was born on Oct. 14, 2016, and weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. Parents are Krista and Jason Peabody of Stanchfield. Grandparents are Pastor David and Peggy Gerhardt of Cambridge; Pastor Paul and Roycee Peabody of Hayden, Idaho.

Harper was born on Dec. 18, 2016, and weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces. Parents are Stephanie and Dustin Kowalsky of Grasston. Grandparents are Floyd and Dawn Kowalsky of Stanchfield; Mike and Kris Pearson of Braham; Brad and Sherri Howe of Pine City.

Jase Peter Grimsbo

Jase was born on Oct. 16, 2016, and weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces. Parents are Katie Mroszak and Chad Grimsbo of Wyoming. Grandparents are Donna Mroszak of Stacy; Bradley Grimsbo of Grand Rapids.

Gunnar Steven Mehne

Gunnar was born on Oct. 21, 2016, and weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces. Parents are Cheryl and Matthew Mehne of North Branch. Grandparents are Alan and Shelley Mehne of Almond, Wis.; Gary and Carla Raymond of Baraboo, Wis.

Koran named Vice Chair New State Senator Mark Koran (R-North Branch) has been appointed to serve as the Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on State Government Finance and Policy and Elections, which will have jurisdiction over funding for all state agencies, as well as Minnesota’s elections system. In addition to that role, Senator-Elect Koran will serve as a member of the Committees on Aging and Long Term Care Policy; Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Legacy Finance; and Commerce and Consumer Protection. Senator-Elect Koran represents Senate District 32, which covers Chisago and Isanti Counties.
