I was the chapter president for the Central Minnesota Gobblers Chapter of the National Wildlife Turkey Foundation for 21 years. Age: 40 From: Salt Lake City Status: Rookie Riding: Ski-Doo Renegade X-RS Bio: I am middle-aged man going through an adventure mid-life crisis. I love to heli-ski, sail and ride snowmachines. I am delightfully married to my bride of 18 years. I figured raising four daughters has been a breeze, so finishing Iron Dog should not be a problem. The Thomas tribe lives in Salt Lake City with our two immature Akitas, one undersized bunny and two snakes (the fish died). I tell people how to dig ditches and stack bricks for a living. Mark and I got more than 1,700 miles into Iron Dog last year and had a heartbreaking scratch. The Iron Dog community that helped us along the way has been something very special to me and crossing that finish line this year will be special. See you all there. Iron Dog trivia The first Iron Dog event started in 1984 and followed the Northern Route of the Historic Iditarod Trail to Nome. Since then it has had multiple incarnations ranging from 1,049 miles in 1984 to 2,409 miles in 2020. Today’s Iron Dog course distance is more than 2,600 miles, starting in Big Lake, with a halfway stop in Nome, then around the Kotzebue Loop, before returning to Big Lake.
