Stambaugh Twp. approves brine By Nikki Mitchell STAMBAUGH TOWNSHIP— At its regular June 5 meeting, the Stambaugh Township board voted to use a brine solution for dust control on gravel roads in the township. The board accepted the bid by a company from Wittenburg, Wis., for 4,000 gallons of 38 percent brine at 97 cents a gallon, totaling $3,880. The dust control solution would be paid for with the road fund. It will be the first year the township has used brine for dust control. Supervisor Eugene Pellizzaro updated the members and public on the milfoil ordinance No. 19 for the Chicaugon Lake boat landing. Boat stickers will be sold again this year at the concession stands at Pentoga Park. The stickers will be sold again due to the three-year stickers that were sold last year. The township has not received correspondence from the County Board about the issue. According to Pellizzaro, there are 18 acres of milfoil in the lake, and the $24,000 budget in place will help treat

14 acres of milfoil. A new security system is now in place at the Windsor Center, he said, and the township applied for a grant from the insurance company to cover the cost. The board agreed to put a bid out for lawn care at the Windsor Center by putting an ad in the paper. Trustee George Brunswick reported that the state of Michigan will only allow four campers at one time at Holmes Park. Signs with the new policy will be placed in the park. In other business: --A motion was approved to replace the transmission of a truck in the Water Department. The estimated cost is $1,385. --The board agreed to place a “no parking” sign on West

Camp Lake Road at a turnaround, after a request was made by a property owner who claimed that parked cars were blocking the entrance to his

property. --No bids were made on the road construction projects, but the board hopes to have bids by next week.

Melissa Weston. During the early morning hours March 25, deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to a burglar alarm at the station and found that the main entrance door had been broken.
