LETTER FROM THE ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER LETTER FROM THE ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER

Welcome to the Fall 2023 edition of the Jersey Village Parks and Recreation Play Guide! I am excited to share that we are maintaining our momentum from our action-packed spring and summer edition! This is such an exciting time for Jersey Village and our Parks and Recreation Department. Both Founders’ Day and our July 4th Celebration welcomed a tremendous amount of family fun, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the experience provided. We have loved hearing your feedback and will continue to improve to ensure these signature events continue to deliver.

We are excited to celebrate yet another successful pool season We assembled an amazing staff of young professionals eager to serve and we couldn’t be more proud of our guard team. We entered (and hosted) the regional lifeguard competition for the first time this year and produced a top 15 finish! Of course, there were some first-year jitters, but we grew as a team during the competition. We also learned some tips and tricks from our peers that place us in a much better position for a chance to qualify for the state competition next season.

During the summer season staff was asked to formulate conceptual designs for Clark Henry Park as well as the Clark Henry Pool improvements and we were very appreciative of the experience as well as all the constructive feedback we received from our residents We are excited that you will have the opportunity to voice your opinion and help guide the future of Jersey Village Parks and Recreation.

Our highly anticipated Golf Course Clubhouse and Event Center broke ground this summer and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This Clubhouse will feature a new restaurant space with a bar, commercial kitchen, a mid-round comfort station and concession stand for our golfers, a custom pro shop and an entertainment area equipped with two simulator bays as well as the patented state of the art virtual green produced by Full Swing. Our event center will be equipped with an open concept indoor seating area as well as a vast open-air pavilion to bring the two buildings together This facility will serve as an excellent entertainment hub for all our residents! This construction, completed by Brookstone Construction will continue through the fall and winter season with a target completion Summer 2024. The new building will be constructed first followed by the renovation of the existing building so to not disrupt our golf course operations and we can’t wait to have you for our grand opening celebration next year We are excited to pair this facility with the immense success the golf course has been experiencing As of this writing, the Jersey Meadow Golf Course has already surpassed 2 million dollars in revenue and is on pace for 2.4 million this fiscal year which wouldn’t require any general fund support this fiscal year.

This fall staff will continue to focus their energy on the successful completion of all projects mentioned and we have also lined up some excellent experiences We have our very popular Fall Frolic event this October 27th and we are excited to announce that this year will feature…. A HAUNTED HOUSE! We are excited to add this amenity to the event and if you would like to get involved, please reach out to our recreation staff We aim to adjust the experience so that it caters to residents of all ages!

December 2nd, we will launch into winter wonderland and holiday season with our Holiday in the Village event This event will feature our holiday market, food, entertainment, a lighted parade, and of course SANTA and ALL OF THE SNOW! We will continue the holiday spirit with our Holiday Decorating contest judging midDecember so be sure to go all out

As I mentioned earlier, this is a very exciting time for Jersey Village. We are excited and motivated to continue to provide the best experiences for our residents. As always, I encourage you to reach out to myself or any of our staff if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions as we continue to make Jersey Village an exciting place to live, work, and play

Sincerely, Assistant City Manager
