You Deserve To Make Time For You

By Siobhan O'Sullivan, SOS Fitness

With my coaching, I work with all females and one of the biggest trends I see with women is that they don’t have time to do anything for their own health. They are dropping kids here and there, looking after elderly parents, working full time, the list goes on. Women put themselves at the very bottom of their own to-do list and never get the chance to do something for their own health.

One thing I stress to all the women I work with is that it is so important that you take time for yourself as well. Some women see this as being selfish but I think it is the exact opposite. Taking time for you is not selfish. You will be able to give more to others when your own cup is full.

Taking exercise, by you taking time 2/3 times a week to go to an exercise class or complete an at home workout, you are doing something positive for your physical health. You are also looking after your mental health as exercise produces endorphins which is our feel-good hormone. This is going to lead to you being in better form and a nicer person to be around.

Women prepare lunches for kids (and sometimes husbands!) and then grab their own food on the go and put little thought into it. See yourself as a priority and put time into planning your meals as well as everyone else’s. Planning your own meals also takes a big mental load off for the week as it is one less decision to make.

You are the only one who can put you first. And putting you first means you can give more of yourself to others while still looking after you. You deserve that just as much as everyone else.
