50th Anniversary Celebration at Freemount Community Centre
This year marks an incredibly special milestone for the community of Freemount as it is the 50th anniversary of the building of the Community Centre in 1975, all done by voluntary labour. This will be marked by a number of special commemoration events over the weekend of Friday September 12th to Sunday September 14th 2025.
Not only is it a celebration of the building of the Community Centre, it is also a celebration of the voluntary work of so many Freemount people down through the years which certainly came to the fore in the building of the Community Centre in 1975. We are also celebrating the work of Muintir na Tíre which started in 1948 and its successor organisations - Freemount Community Council and Freemount Community Development Association, all of which have culminated in the fantastic facilities we have today in Freemount.
To mark this momentous occasion, Freemount Community Development Association has organised a weekend full of nostalgia, exhibitions, and festivities catering for all ages to reflect the Freemount community spirit.
In addition, a book tracing the history of Freemount Muintir na Tíre and its successor organisations from 1948 to date will be launched.
