How We Determine Your Air Quality Score: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Using a laser particle counter, we take 3 indoor particle readings and average them. Using a laser particle counter, we take 3 outdoor particle readings and average them. Then we divide the indoor average reading by the outdoor average reading. IQAir considers good air quality in a home to typically contain only one-fourth (25%) the particle pollution as outdoor air.

Harmful Pollutants in the Indoor pollutants and allergens can create a toxic soup of pollutants that can affect the health of you and your family. In fact, nine out of ten homes have been found to have air quality problems that could be harmful to your health. With studies showing you spend 90% of your day indoors, the quality of the indoor air you breathe affects you and your family’s health. 90% of the airborne particles in a typical household are smaller than 0.3 microns in size which is actually smaller than bacteria. Many of these airborne particles and allergens are so small that when inhaled, they can actually enter your lungs and be absorbed into your bloodstream. It is important to have an air cleaning system that can protect you and your family from harmful indoor pollutants such as these: Pet Dander: Size: 0.05 – 25 microns. Pet dander is the old skin and fur that pets shed. Animal dander is very small and can become attached to your clothing even if you do not own a pet. Dander can be found everywhere: floors, carpets, walls, furniture, bedding, even the ceilings. Pet dander is a known asthma and allergy trigger. Pollen: Size: 0.35 – 250 microns. One of the most common allergens is pollen. It affects the nose, eyes, and mouth making it difficult to breathe. Most pollen that produces allergic reactions is from trees, grasses, and weeds.

Common Flu Virus: Size: 0.01– 0.3 microns. The flu virus attacks the respiratory system and can cause difficulty in breathing. The flu is an airborne virus. People carrying the virus may be contagious for 1 to 4 days before they show symptoms. It is important to filter viruses from the air to reduce the chance of infection.

Dust Mites: Size: 0.05 – 25 microns. House dust mites are considered to be the most common cause of asthma and allergic symptoms worldwide. Dust mites themselves do not cause an allergic reaction, however, their dung-pellets are an irritant to sensitive people and can cause breathing difficulties. They thrive in warm, humid, dark conditions such as mattresses, carpets, sheets, pillows, and upholstery. Common Bacteria: Size: 0.1–10 microns. Common bacteria are found in many homes and can circulate through your ventilation system and thrive in close tight areas. Bacteria can cause respiratory infections and other diseases that can negatively affect your health.

Mold / Fungus: Size: 1–75 microns. Mold and fungus are commonly found in most homes and may be found in the air ducts of your heating/cooling system. They tend to float throughout the house, and form new colonies where they land. Fungus spores have been known to increase the chances of developing asthma.

Household Cleaners & Chemicals: Many people develop sensitivities by being exposed to common household cleaners and chemicals. Household cleaners have a negative impact on your health. Respiratory issues could exist with children. Studies suggest that the prevalence of chemical sensitivities increases with age.

e Indoor Air We Breathe Knowing how many airborne particles are in the indoor air you breathe can provide you with critical information about your indoor air quality and the effectiveness of your current filtration system. A ParticleScan instrument uses laser technology to measure particle concentration in ambient air. While the ParticleScan is a technologically sophisticated device, it can only measure particles down to 0.3 microns in size. With the fact that 90% of all airborne particles are smaller than 0.3 microns in size, the particle count you will see with the ParticleScan device is only the tip of the iceberg of the actual number of harmful particles you have in your home. The actual number of total particles in your home is approximately ten times higher! Below is a chart of pollutants and their size range. Laser Particle Scanner

Real People, Real Results Lisa Whiting and son “My son Brant has suffered with severe asthma since infancy. Lack of sleep, inhalers, breathing treatments, steroids, frequent hospitalizations (including a respiratory arrest) and constant trips to the emergency room were the norm for us. From medications to ultrasonic nebulizers to air filtration systems, I thought I was doing EVERYTHING possible to manage my son’s asthma. It was still uncontrolled. I was at my wits end until I finally called IQAir. They have changed our lives. Instead of waking up with nightly asthma attacks my son has had virtually no asthma attacks. The year before we had IQAir come to our home, my son missed classes on 67 days of school due to complications of his asthma. The year after IQAir installed our new air purification system, he missed zero days of school. It’s wonderful. IQAir has given me my life back and my son’s life back. We are just able to live in a healthy home now.”

Dr. Brian Boxer-Wachler, MD “My environment as an eye surgeon is very delicate, and in our surgery room we need to create a very sterile environment for patients’ safety. Part of our sterility protocol is to use IQAir. They tested my operating room’s air and designed an air purification system for us that filters all of the particles down to a sub micron level. As a medical doctor, I can tell you that IQAir’s specialists are the experts on finding the most effective solutions for cleaning your air. Because I was so happy with the performance of the IQAir system in our medical institute, it was natural for me to incorporate the system into our home. Being a dad with twin daughters, I want to ensure that they grow up in the healthiest environment possible.”
