Former Flagler College standout Caren Fiorillo begins her first season on the sideline for the IPFW women’s basketball team. Most recently Fiorillo was an assistant coach on the Maine University women’s basketball coaching staff, where she spent two years in charge of coaching the guards and team travel arrangements as well as assisting in recruiting. Prior to her time in Orono, Maine, she spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. While with the Bobcats Fiorillo was in charge of recruiting, film exchange, and the creation of scouting reports for the program, and she also coached Dianca Jones, who went on to play professionally in Slovakia and Germany. She also spent time working with Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman while an intern at Lieberman’s 2006 summer basketball camps. While working at the camps, she was placed in charge of marketing and directing camps in the Dallas, Phoenix, and Detroit areas. As a collegian, Fiorillo was a four-year letterwinner at Flagler (Fla.) College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in sports management and a minor in business in 2006. She has been actively involved in community service projects throughout her playing and coaching career, and has taken parts in events with the Boys and Girls Club of McKinney, Texas, as well as YMCA Little Dribblers of St. Augustine (Fla.).
