GRADUATION
June 19 and June 29, 2012 On June 19th and June 29th we were very pleased to honor our 8th grade and 12th grade students with two graduation ceremonies that took place at the Consulate General of Italy in New York. On June 19th, the 8th grade students and their families gathered at the Italian Consulate. Educational Director of the Consulate, Ing. Antonio Benetti introduced the guest speakers: Head of La Scuola Anna Fiore, Chairman of the Board Steve Madsen Esq., and the Director of the Exams Commission, Dr. Roberto Pennazzato. Dr. Pennazzato congratulated our 8th grade students for the very good exams results, showed by one “10 e lode” awarded to a student. Shortly after, Consul General Min. Natalia Quintavalle awarded our 8th grade students the 8th grade Italian diplomas.

On June 29th, our 12th grade class, after completing a long and very challenging Italian maturità exam, dressed in cap and gown, received their diplomas by Consul General Min. Natalia Quintavalle. Educational Director of the Consulate, Ing. Antonio Benetti introduced the guest speakers: special remarks were made by Anna Fiore, Head of La Scuola; Mr. Stephen Acunto, Vice Chairman of La Scuola; and by the President of the Exams Commission, Dr. Roberto Pennazzato. Dr. Pennazzato acknowledged the excellent exams results showed by three “cento,” maximum score, awarded to three of our students. Consul General Natalia Quintavalle commended La Scuola Liceo students for the various projects and activities, both academic and cultural, implemented throughout the year in close collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy and the other Italian institutions in New York. It was a very special and solemn moment when Consul General Natalia Quintavalle called the name of Can Akant “Johnny” Toksu and two of his classmates to accept his Honorary Diploma. Right after, Michael Prater, English teacher and Liceo coordinator read a beautiful letter of thank you sent by Elizabeth Toksu.
