teland Apparatebau GmbH & Co. KG in Rommerskirchen (Germany) is a sheet metal processor with a very high level of vertical integration. Already in its fourth generation, the
family-owned company offers comprehensive services for a wide range of customers, from design to sheet cutting, machining, welding, coating, labelling and assembly. Some time ago it was decided to switch from wet paint coating to powder coating. Although the new coating plant was operating satisfactorily, a number of ongoing projects offered room for optimization. This was mainly due to the lack of skilled personnel who would be able to bring the necessary expertise into the company from outside. For this reason, they contacted the experts from the powder coating manufacturer KABE.
Small batch sizes with large variance As a classic in-house coating company, Steland has to constantly coat new parts and materials with a wide variety of characteristics. In addition, there are special requirements and specifications from the customers as well as a wide variety of batch sizes. Steland was commissioned to manufacture 19-inch bays and enclosures for a new server rack technology. The specification for the powder coating was to apply a black fine-structure powder,
