Over the last ten years, vacuum metallisation and, in particular, PVD sputtering, which allows depositing a thin film of different metals to guarantee high aesthetic and mechanical properties, have expanded horizontally in the industry, thus conquering very different market sectors. Not only cosmetic and glass packages, but also aluminium profiles for interior design1, 3D printed (or AM) components2, fashion accessories3, and automotive interior and decorative components can now exploit the advantages of vacuum metallisation to achieve glossy, shiny, and durable finishes in a wide range of colours and through an environmentally friendly process.
