specific for wood to global player in the field of surface treatments and finishes of wood, metal and plastic: this is the life’s course of Venjakob Maschinenbau, one of the German historical and still familyowned companies, which set the standards in efficient and reliable finishing technology (Fig. 1). We have interviewed Christian Nüβer (Fig. 2), the third generation of the family at the head of the company, to listen from his voice the past, present and especially the future of this global player.

of Venjakob since its foundation? Christian Nüßer: Venjakob was founded in 1963 by Heinrich and Anneliese Venjakob and started business as locksmith’s shop. In 1964 the small enterprise designed and manufactured its first staining machine. This machine was the entry into the market of surface technology. In 1976, when the founders’ daughter, Elisabeth and her husband Otto Nüßer joined the company, Venjakob became an internationally operating enterprise. The company expanded, submitted and registered patents and established sales representatives around the world. At the
