JOTUN COATINGS ANNOUNCES PRICE INCREASE Jotun Coatings annuncia un aumento dei prezzi

otun has acknowledged the steep rise in the cost of raw materials through 2010 used in some of their coatings. This rise in costs has significantly affected all paints and coatings manufacturers worldwide. Consequently, Jotun has been forced to increase prices on some of its products, but emphasises that it has not affected its entire range. Throughout 2010 the market price of major raw materials used in coatings, such as epoxies, titanium dioxide, acrylics and metal-based materials has increased by up to as much as 50 per cent. The surprisingly high global demand coupled with the downscaling of capacity following the 2007 financial crisis has caused an imbalance in the raw materials market for coatings, which has resulted in shortages of many raw materials and consequently caused prices to spiral. Jotun Coatings expects that this situation will worsen in 2011, which began with the highest crude oil price since 2008, pressing prices further up on petrochemical-based raw materials and metal prices reaching new heights. Jotun’s Divisional Marketing Director, Frank Nordby, said: “The industry-wide escalation in raw material prices has unfortunately been too great for us to absorb through other cost-containment measures. We would however like to emphasise that prices will only be adjusted for products directly affected. el 2010 Jotun ha riconosciuto il ripido aumento dei costi delle materie prime utilizzate in alcune delle sue vernici. Questo aumento nei costi ha toccato in modo significativo tutti i produttori di vernici e rivestimenti nel mondo. Di conseguenza, Jotun si è vista costretta ad aumentare i prezzi di alcuni suoi prodotti, ma tale aumento non influirà sull’intera gamma. Nel corso del 2010 il prezzo di mercato delle principali materie prime usate nelle vernici, ad esempio epossidici, biossido di titanio, acrilici e materiali a base di metalli sono aumentate fino al 50 per cento. La richiesta globale sorprendentemente alta combinata con una ridimensionata capacità produttiva dovuta alla crisi finanziaria del 2007 ha causato uno squilibrio nel mercato delle materie prime per vernici, che è risultato nella scarsità di molte materie prime e di conseguenza in un aumento a spirale dei prezzi. Jotun Coatings si attende che la situazione peggiori nel 2011, che è iniziato con il prezzo del greggio più alto dal 2008, con una ulteriore spinta al rialzo dei prezzi delle materie prime petrolchimiche e con un aumento spinto dei prezzi dei metalli. Frank Nordby, Direttore Marketing Divisionale di Jotun, afferma: “L’escalation industriale dei prezzi delle materie prime è stato sfortunatamente troppo grande per noi per consentirci di assorbirla attraverso misure diverse di contenimento dei costi.
