ntil a few years ago, the industry considered the adoption of technologies aimed at reducing the environmental impact of production processes (e.g. waste water treatment, exhaust gas recirculation, etc.) as an unproductive investment, needed to comply with regulations but with no prospect of gain. In the last few years, however, the concept of sustainability has begun to be associated with the idea to turn these costs into profits – in other words, sustainability as the combination of eco-friendliness and economy of process. In the waste water treatment and industrial waste management sectors, as in many other fields, the search for sustainable solutions has often become synonymous with the development of actions aimed at lowering production costs. However, the investment in eco-friendly installations is more and more frequently reflected in clear advantages in terms of 1 profitability for the company: This happens thanks to the increasingly advanced technologies that enable the recovery and reuse of high quantities of water. CIE has always heavily invested in the development and implementation of these processes, thus becoming a leading manufacturer of liquid zero discharge solutions and, above all, of complete plants and processes that are fully customised based on each client’s needs, especially in emerging countries where the limits set by the regulations are often stricter than the European ones. The key to its success has been combining a thirty years experience in the design and installation of waste water treatment plants with the formulation and testing of the most suitable chemicals for different plants. ino a qualche anno fa l’industria associava il concetto di adozione di tecnologie volte ad abbattere l’impatto ambientale dei processi produttivi (come la depurazione delle acque reflue o degli scarichi aeriformi) con l’idea di investimento improduttivo, necessario al rispetto delle normative ma sostanzialmente un puro costo. In anni recenti, invece, il concetto di sostenibilità ha iniziato ad accompagnarsi con l’idea di trasformare il costo per “l’ecologia” in un “guadagno” in profittabilità. Sostenibilità come unione dei concetti di ecologia ed economia di processo, quindi. Nel settore del trattamento delle acque reflue e dello smaltimento dei rifiuti industriali, come in numerosi altri ambiti, la ricerca di soluzioni il più possibile ecosostenibili è spesso diventata sinonimo di indagini mirate all’abbattimento dei costi produttivi. Accade sempre più di frequente che gli investimenti per installazioni impiantistiche eco-friendly si riflettano in evidenti vantaggi in termini di profittabilità per l’azienda, grazie ai recenti sviluppi di tecnologie sempre più avanzate, che consentono il recupero e il riuso di elevate quantità di acqua. CIE ha sempre investito molto nello sviluppo e nella messa a punto di questi processi, diventando uno dei leader nello scarico zero di liquidi e soprattutto nell’offerta di impianti e processi completi e super personalizzati sulla base delle esigenze di ciascun cliente, soprattutto nei paesi emergenti dove i limiti previsti dalle normative sono spesso più restrittivi di quelli europei. La chiave di questo sviluppo è stato associare l’esperienza trentennale nella progettazione e installazione di soluzioni impiantistiche per il trattamento acque con la formulazione e il collaudo dei prodotti chimici più adatti ai diversi impianti.
