ortugal created a Sustainable Urban Mobility project at the beginning of 2014, mainly focussed on electric bicycles and LEV (Light Electric Vehicles). The country has an advanced know-how in the production of this type of vehicles and their components, and also is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of bicycles, with an estimated production of 780.000 in 2013 (COLIPED, COLIBI, European Bicycle Market, Industry and Market Profile – 2013 Statistics). However, this industry lives mainly thanks to the orders from big international brands such as Decathlon, the sports industry giant owning chain store/supermarkets both inside and outside Europe. The medium-term objective of Portugal is enhancing the value of its national brands also on foreign markets, and

ll’inizio del 2014 il Portogallo ha dato vita ad un progetto di sviluppo della mobilità urbana sostenibile, principalmente attraverso biciclette elettriche e LEV (Light Electric Vehicles). Il Paese possiede un know-how avanzato nella produzione di questa tipologia di veicoli e dei loro componenti, ed anche è uno dei maggiori produttori europei di biciclette, con una capacità produttiva annua di 780.000 pezzi nel 2013 (COLIPED, COLIBI, European Bicycle Market, Industry and Market Profile –Statistiche 2013). Tuttavia, questa industria vive soprattutto grazie agli ordinativi di grossi marchi internazionali come Decathlon, il colosso del settore sportivo che possiede catene di negozi-supermercati dello sport sia dentro che fuori l’Europa. L’obiettivo a medio termine del Portogallo è quello di attribuire maggior valore ai propri marchi nazionali, lanciandoli
