IGP Pulvertechnik AG: Test Plant for Temperature-Sensitive Substrates Enters Operation such as MDF and plastics, became operational in February 2018 in addition to the existing metal coating technical centre located at the headquarters in Switzerland. The new test centre enables IGP to simulate the coating of temperature-sensitive substrates under real production conditions and to experiment with application methods (Fig. 1). This will create the foundation for shorter product launch times as well as robust volume production processes at the customer premises. Furthermore, the plant also functions as a research and training centre. In doing so, IGP is consolidating its position as a premium provider of powder coatings and ensures its ability to provide a suitable solution for all customer requirements. “With the new technical centre, we are further expanding the strategically important field of powder coating for temperature-sensitive substrates. In doing so, we are creating a further condition for consolidating our leading role in terms of innovations and design in addition to competitiveness,” explained Savvas Legidis, Head of Technology. “The ultra-modern technical centre is an important component of this. One particularly noteworthy special feature of the new technical centre is the variable speed control in the furnace, which permits a simulation of various furnace lengths (Fig. 2).”
