Facts •The end of the Seventh Annual Catalogue of the Officers and Students of the Iowa Wesleyan

University for the Academical[sic] Year 1861-2 states: –“In

common with ather [sic] Institutions we have felt the depressing effects of the Rebellion. Being so near the Border, many of our students responded to the first call of the Government for volunteers; and there have been few if any battles fought east or west or south, in which some of the students of the present or former years have not participated. Some have fallen, many have been wounded; not one, to our knowledge, has acted ignobly. All honor to the gallant living; all honor to the memory of the brave and noble dead!

–Our

Catalogue does not, however, show as great a decrease in the number of students as we had anticipated. Our prospects for the coming year are good. Let all our friends aid us by every means in their power.”
